I passed first time after 5 lessons. Got my first car when I was still 16, as soon as I turned 17 I was driving almost every day with my dad supervising, so I only had 5 hours of paid-for instruction but got many more hours of practise.

I took around 45 hours, but I had a break of around 4 months because I was at university. Passed my test the second time, cos I didn't stop at a stop sign the first time round ;)

Had 16/18 hours of lessons.

Passed first time, with 3 minors.

Had about 600 hours of experience driving everyone everywhere though.

I think it depends on how much practice you're able to do in between your lessons. I had about 10 lessons and passed within two months, but I was out practicing a couple of times a week with my dad too.

I had started learning with my mum, but that didn't last very long... :hihi:

Sorry Mikey I've took yer crown.

Thirteen.

we'll have to give each other our routes to work, so we can avoid each other:roll:

I lost count of the number, especially as I had a long gap in the middle where I didn't learn. After passing though I did a pass plus course with another instructor, and the differences between the two led me to think that the first insructor was a pile of rubbish.

So I guess it depends both on you, and the instructor you choose.

Was put in for my test after 14 lessons (@ 1 per week) but there was a huuuuge waiting period so I think I have 20~25 by the time the test came round. Passed first time at the age of 17 with no extra practice in anyone else's car.

Very general rule of thumb: you'll need 1 hour of lessons for every year of your life, give or take. That's to be ready for your test - but remember that only ~40% of people pass first time. :)
