I say Blue Peter but I 19 so I never had Magpie? I must have been deprived, though Blue I used to be mad on it when I was in primary school, when Katie Hill and Konnie Huq just started presenting it. Must have been when I was about 11, a whole 8 years ago .....like a lifetime

Blue Peter. The Noakes/Purves/Singleton years. Class. Accept no cheap substitutes.

Blue Peter. Simon, Sarah and Peter.

Blue Peter, with noakesy, purvey and the luscious lesley judd!

RIGHT choice everyone - but for the WRONG reasons!

Blue Peter ..... because of that memorable incident with the elephant! :gag::hihi:

Blue Peter started in 1958:- the first edition was broadcast on 16th Oct 1958, presented by Christopher Trace, and Leila Williams.

there's a Precis of the show's history here...

I preferred Magpie, TBH, it was "hipper" with Mick Robertson and Tony Bastable, presenting with Sue Stranks and Jenny Hanley.

I watched BP, mind you. IN the days pre vidoe, never mind VHS, it was awkward on a thursday might when both shows were transmitteed at the same time (BP was Monday and Thursday teatime, Magpie was, IIRC Tuesdays and Thursdays)

My fave presenters of BP were Val singleton, Peter Purves and "Noakesie". I did enjoy the historical stories that (usually Val, and later Lesley Judd presented within the show.)

How many people remember the BP cartoon strip, "bleep and booster"?
