randolf
My girlfriend is starting a new job in Frecheville and I'm helping her with her route. She lives in Walkley and will be working 9-5. I've suggested along Mowbray St - Park Square - City Road. A driving instructor has suggested she uses the Parkway because City Road will be jammed. Unfortunately she needs the car to be at work to do visits, so can't use the tram. Any suggestions for a quick and easy route there and back would be much appreciated. angle20
A driving instructor has suggested she uses the Parkway because City Road will be jammed. Although the rush hour traffic will be in the opposite direction on this side of town? Test it and see perhaps.
jo2310
I don't really know the best way from Walkley to City Centre but Granville Road, City Road and the Parkway will all be perfectly fine heading towards Frechville.
JoeP
She could always try the MNL 95 bus? That goes form Walkley to Frecheville in about 40 minutes, and runs about every 15 minutes. http://www.travelsouthyorkshire.com/NR/rdonlyres/2A3A8883-73EF-43F1-AD82-A665E69206C3/0/9495123795SheffieldValidFrom30thApril2007.pdf

City Road will only be busy heading into town at that time of day, should be fine the other way.
CHAIRBOY
She needs her car at work. The biggest problem is getting across town. I'd go to the University roundabout, down to St.Mary's Gate - they will be the bottlenecks (a case of biting the bullet! allow plenty of time) - and then thereafter by previous suggestions such as Granville Road, East Bank Road etc. across to Intake. freedomchap
Walkley to Frecheville - alternative routes The key is to be going against the flow at rush hour, up city road is good in that respect, but town will be slow. how about, walkley via crookes to broomhill, newbould lane and right on clarkhouse and down brocco bank. right at hunters bar, up ecclesall rd (against flow) left at Abbey lane, cross abbeydale and right at roundabout up bocking lane/greenhill ave accross meadowhead/norton and lightwood roundabout, following ring road/dual carriageway right at gleadless townend on to white lane left at old harrow pub (Fox Lane) then either right on Birley lane or ahead and right on thornbridge drive depending which part of Frecheville yer looking for Coming back you can short cut from abbey lane/eccie rd to fulwood road by cutting through bents green, which works better in that direction than t'other
