SaveUK
Or you might get a late flight to Thessaloniki with a holiday company ( then bus, train, hire car down to athens ) but then he might have to be over in greece for a week waiting for the return flight, or a flight to one italys ports with boat links to piraeus

SaveUK
Look at the flights to Ancona or Brindisi/Bari with Ryanair, but out of the 2 look at ancona,,, bari is as rough as old boots, then get the boat to athens, that said its the easyest way to get to athens without a direct flight so will probley be ££££ now, plus thats the way many Milan fans will be going over no doubt! ( so hard hats on )
