Does anyone in Hillsborough remember Walter?

Recommended Posts

A very interesting read.

I lived in hillsborough through the 50's, 60.s and 70's, as a child and through to mid 20's... and never met him.

Had to go find my own conkers....

Here's hoping he has many more birthdays.

tilter has mentioned Ivan.....I do remember him. Often saw him on bradfield road always with a shopping bag in hand.

Hi Guys

I just started a Walter Holland appreciation page on facebook

Walter is now 86 and still going strong.. I saw him today eating mash & peas... NO gravy tho lol

His carer is aware of the page and is going to show him it and read any stories posted... help him try remember things..

all posts welcomed :-)

It would be really good to get some info on this. Walter truly is/was a Hillsborough/Wadsley legend as said and so many kids - whatever their age, status and bravado will be truly moved by his passing if this is true. A really sad day if it is confirmed. May Walter find true peace and happiness wherever he is.

I remember Walter too - the planes were class - nice bloke - can any one remember Ernist - the tall chap that used to walked about too?

I remember Earnest he used to walk along Langsett Rd and shout and wave his arms at the buses when they went past :)

We saw Walter a few weeks ago with a a carer having his tea in the pub. My friend decided to create a facebook page in his honour. The Walter Holland Appreciation Page I think it's called.
