And yet you are trying to get a reaction out of me, because we both know that you have no idea how balanced I am (probably not very, but that's beside the point).

 

Let me guess... You are a white male, aged between 18 and 32. You enjoy violent films or video games. You had a troubled childhood, you admited in your post that you had been physically abused. You are somewhat of a loner, keep a lot of your thoughts and feeling to yourself. You were probably cruel to animals and insects in your childhood. You have trouble controling you anger when you feel you are not in control, and have feeling of jealousy and envy towards your peers?

 

white male correct. age wrong. dont like violent films, i like comedy, dont know how to work video games. had a very happy childhood, love my parents and brothers. accepted my punishment if i did wrong i new there was a consequence. i have hundreds of friends of both sexes am very popular, always had girlfriends. the current one has a first class honours degree in french and german. im an extrovert not a loner although i am secure enough to spend time on my own. i love animal, but am not a slave to them, i used to breed dogs and show them, ive always had pets. i never loose my temper. have never felt jealous of anything really.

 

Your response is quiet sad really, for i feel you have a lot of these traits. I can accept others opinions without loosing the plot. shame on you.

im not at all angry, im very calm and happy.i just had a simple question. with problems we have today and the authorities useless response i was basically asking if a thug bullies and beats someone up, smashes up property and terryfies old ladies what would be the most effective way to make them stop. some people dont understand reason. your response is the same as the authorities in which nobody is responsible for their actions, theres always an excuse. you appear to be the angry one, as others on here who appear to appose anything that makes sense. you and your likeminded socialists have created a awful society.

What's your evidence though? Twin study where you were hit and your twin wasn't? The fact that you 'seem' okay doesn't mean that you wouldn't be better if you'd never been physically punished...

 

I was smacked when I did wrong, it worked, I stopped misbehaving for fear of being hurt. I don't think it's the best way to teach a child, hell, I wouldn't teach a dog like that. I turned out okay, but there's no evidence to suggest I couldn't have been even better (hard as it is to believe).

I think I am the evidence, having never committed an offence, never mugged anyone, never burgled anyone, never beaten anyone up for the fun of it, never stolen anything. Completed my education, Went into further education, obtained qualifications, worked ............. I guess by these standards, a little discipline when needed, did ruin me, come to think of it, maybe I could have done better in life, I hate my parents now, and the teachers that disciplined me, maybe I should go out burgling tonight, and mug the elderly of their pensions and life savings tomorrow. You are right, the undisciplined kids of today are much better than I ever was. I got the cane or slipper when I stepped out of line, they get rewarded these days with ipods etc. DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!

That might be true... although i'm not sure life a couple of hundred years was all that much safer, but I don't personally relate discipline with violence.
