DELL PC's .. Shop or online?

Recommended Posts

Buying my other half a new PC and she fancies a Dell. Question is can I buy them brand new from a shop in Sheffield or are Dell online only? Does anyone know of any franchised dealers?

If they are online only, what happens if they go wrong? Do they come out to your house or is it a pack-it-up-and-send-it-back job?

Cheers all :)

http://www.dell.co.uk should answer your questions.

And as the advert says - you can't buy Dell in the shops.

Most of the warranties are at least 1 year on site/RTB (in which case they usually collect).

Online or by phone.

There are different warranties that you can pick whilst building your machine.

OK cheers for your answers all. I use Dell at work and know they are pretty reliable. Shame Gemsoft went belly-up this year, I used to love them to build my PC's but still....

Dells are excellent PC's!! Although i don't have one i have a Sony Vaio, my mum does and they are great. She has the XPS model, but i don't understand why as she aint a gamer lol. They are buy online or phone only and cannot be found in any shops, but are definitly worth it and are all round great pcs

I think that you will find that Dell have contracted out techies for if your Dell goes wrong. :) I have the Dell Latitude laptop. If you register your laptop online you can get downloads and updates for your laptop online downloaded direct from Dell.

if you're fairly savvy and knowledgeable, check out the dell outlet. you can pick up some great bargains there on returned laptops. i got mine for £100 less than list price and with a bigger hard disk. be warned though that not everything listed is a particularly good deal and they tend to go VERY quickly, so keep looking and buy as soon as you see something.

you'll no doubt get some negative remarks about dells on here, but i cant fault them for cheap, reliable machines.

Yes they are cheap and reliable, but be careful if they break down because they sell you the products to repair them at grossly inflated prices and then you have to find someone else to repair it. You wouldn't believe the amount of calls I get from Dell customers at PC World. I just feel like telling them to fxxk off. If they bought if from Dell let them deal with it.
