Britain is not capable of 'invading' Iran. The forces for this are the Army and Royal Marines which are both currently deployed elsewhere.

 

The remaining troops available would constitute a fairly small, though violent, unprovoked attack: a sort of suicide raid, rather than an invasion.

 

What purpose would this serve? For whom?

So what? They are busy where they are and whilst man for man I've no doubt they outclass the Iranian forces there are nothing close to enough British troops in Afghanistan and Iraq to invade Iran. Hardly surprising really as their aren't enough to do that full stop.

This also applies to Kuwait, which is a pushover with plenty of easily available oil.

We don't have the troops.

Iraq is a bloody mess after we freed it. Why do you thing Iran would be any better.

It's bugger all to do with us.

China has a 20% stake in Iraq's oil. Do you think they will hang around and let the yanks pinch it ?

The rest of the Muslim world would get involved at some level and that leaves a hell of a mess to worry about.

The extremist few in this country would see it as a great reason to suicide bomb us again.

 

Can't think of a good reason to invade at the moment at the moment unless you want to steal more oil.

 

Problem is that a large US fleet in building up in the area at the moment. Can bush be that daft ?

I'd still like to know what Iran has done that is worthy of an invasion. Is it the colour of their skin?

It seems the Hollywood portrayal of a western soldier has finally gone to people's heads. Iraq barely had an army and look at how much of a fight they put up against the allied forces. It's not the armies that are fought it's the country.

What with? I believe that the Army has a couple of Landrovers and a catering trailer due out of annual overhaul when they get back from their Easter Bank Holiday break.

 

A bit of camo netting here and there should do it, then we can get on and invade!
