Rich
Not sure if I really aught to admit to this on a public forum... But the first record single I bought was the theme tune to Postman Pat circa 1982, iirc it had some song by Ted Glen on the other side.... Forgive me I was only 6 at the time

Rich
I also bought the single where Kevin the Gerbil of Roland Rat fame ruined Sir Cliff's "Summer Holiday"... Same excuse as before, I was only young when I bought it...

Joanl
It would have been an Elvis one, probably Heartbreak Hotel, a 78" and more than likely in 1957ish, That's when I started work and my mom. dad and me would each chip in 2/- (10p) to take it in turns to choose. I think they were 6/11 so dad would pay the extra coppers.
