PDSA Refuse to treat injured Rabbit

Recommended Posts

Just read this about Tameside Rescue (who I fostered Frankie for) taking a bunny that was handed to the PDSA in an appaling state...and they refused to treat it! These people are VETS and they gave the sick rabbit to a self funded rescue who have to find money to treat it themselves, and believe me this rabbiot needs a LOT of treatment.

It's not really clear why they wouldn't treat the rabbit is it? i am wondering if it's because it was left there, i am presuming it was just handed in as a stray or something, in which case i suppose they would be within their rights to refuse as the animal has to belong to someone in reciept of benefits.

That is down to the veterinary practice not The PDSA, if the practice or indeed a specific person at the practice had wanted to treat the rabbit they could have done so ;) (I will say no more).

I don't think The PDSA should take the blame as they have rules under which they operate.

over the past years ive taken down 2 stray dogs a cat a rabbit a hedgehog and a few wild birds that i have found and have needed urgent treatment and i have never had any problems.

I think they do a fantastic job.

Nah it wouldn't be kinder to put this creature down, because a lot of people are dedicated to nursing rabbits back to health when they need it most.

This rabbits injuries are superficial - once they're healed, he/she will have an amazing life :D

but its a rabbit for heavens sake, not a child! The PDSA rely on money donated to them by people they dont have infinate funds available!
