VERITAS BURGLAR ALARM...help to reset

Recommended Posts

Hello

We have a Veritas 8 burglar alarm fixed in our house, inherited from previous owner of the property. I think it was fixed by him only and we were given the user booklet and code... which I did reset when we moved in.

I had not activated it allthese days as we could not close one of the doors after new carpets. I finally decided to activate it today..after someone breaking into my car to get the tomtom satnav. when I tried to reset it ...the panel kept showing zone2 open ...despite of it being closed. Then I tried to set it by part setting... avoiding zone2 as told in the booklet. I went out after the exit beep :when I came back in alarm went off and neither the new or the old pass code worked.

It was annoying and emberrassing in the quite neighbourhood. I rang texecom for help who, unhelpfully, said that I need to call an engineer. I googled and removed the battery from internal panel as someone has suggested, however, the external bell kept making the noice...finallly it stopped when I was fiddling the screws of external bell.

Just wondered if any one has an idea of how to reset it ...or suggest a good engineer who wont rip me off? Thanks in advance

Have you tried a walk through test to check where all your zones are ? . Your instructions should tell you how to do it . Is zone 2 a passive or a door switch ? . And where is it located ? Part setting the alarm will only cancel zone 2 out if it is set to be cancelled !!!

when zone two was ommitted i wonder if you was picked up by another sensor after setting the alarm.

taking the mains power off and disconnecting the battery, the bell box should shut down 20 mins after all the power was removed.

if you have the other book the one that sets up all the programing, that should tell you how to reboot the alarm back up .

or it may be better to have a alarm company come out, set it up for you and to check its working ok.
