Congratulations to everyone who took part. I will be running the race for life in Huddersfield in June as there was no room at Sheffield. So I've got a bit longer to train. I can only manage about two miles at the moment without stopping, so wish me luck.

good luck. We had only ran 2 miles without stopping before we did it as well and only stoped twice on sunday.

Hi all,

 

I know I haven't been a member on here for long, so maybe this is a lot to ask.

 

For the first time ever I am running the Race for Life as part of the Girlguiding Sheffield team (http://www.sheffieldguides.org.uk / http://www.girlguiding.org.uk if you don't know what we are!).

 

It takes place on Sunday June 4th here in Sheffield at Don Valley (2 races) but there are races up and down the country (see http://www.raceforlife.org for more details).

 

We need to raise as much money in sponsorship as possible to help out this good cause. I'm sure that we've all been, or know someone who has been affected by cancer at some point in their lives.

I had an 8 hour operation 6 weeks ago to remove cancerous lymph nodes from my neck. So the race is out for me this year but I will be doing it next year!

It is women only, yes. There is a men's race for bowel cancer, but this isn't quite as popular - http://www.runformoore.org less races. It may be women only, but it is so popular - hence why Sheffield has 2 races this year!

they have to register their own web space, it is very easy to set up - see http://www.raceforlife.org for details - you don't have to do anything really - it's all set up ready - you just choose what you want!

 

It's a damn good cause and I'm proud of myself for doing it!!!

I'm debating on this at the moment ..... My mum was on about us doing it last year but nothing came of it. Maybe tomorrow when her internet goes live she'll be browsing the website although this year her and dad'll be on their jollies.

 

I can just about tackle a 45-min walk to work and back, not sure about 5km
