citygirl   10 #25 Posted May 22, 2005 Congratulations to everyone who took part. I will be running the race for life in Huddersfield in June as there was no room at Sheffield. So I've got a bit longer to train. I can only manage about two miles at the moment without stopping, so wish me luck.
 Share this content via...

S8 Blade   10 #28 Posted March 5, 2006 Hi all,  I know I haven't been a member on here for long, so maybe this is a lot to ask.  For the first time ever I am running the Race for Life as part of the Girlguiding Sheffield team (http://www.sheffieldguides.org.uk / http://www.girlguiding.org.uk if you don't know what we are!).  It takes place on Sunday June 4th here in Sheffield at Don Valley (2 races) but there are races up and down the country (see http://www.raceforlife.org for more details).  We need to raise as much money in sponsorship as possible to help out this good cause. I'm sure that we've all been, or know someone who has been affected by cancer at some point in their lives.  If you could take the time to sponsor me, or someone else that you know who is running I'm sure we would all appreciate it. You can donate online (go on, do it NOW!!!) using my page http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/samanthajessop or using a friend's page if you know they have one.  Remember to tick the GIFT AID box if you are a UK taxpayer. This way Cancer Research UK can claim an extra 28p per £1 from the taxman at no extra cost to you.  PLEASE DIG DEEP!!!!  Mods - if this could be put as a sticky I'd really appreciate it, this isn't just some dumb sponsorship - this is cancer research.  Thanks  Samantha  P.S. You can now sponsor our team at http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/girlguidingsheffield
 Share this content via...
HotPhil   10 #29 Posted March 6, 2006 I didn't realise you could sponsor participants online. That's very good, the missus will be pleased!
 Share this content via...

karenmcc   10 #31 Posted March 6, 2006 Have just sponsored you:D  I had an 8 hour operation 6 weeks ago to remove cancerous lymph nodes from my neck. So the race is out for me this year but I will be doing it next year!  Good luck and well done:thumbsup:
 Share this content via...

There is a men's race for bowel cancer, but this isn't quite as popular - http://www.runformoore.org less races. It may be women only, but it is so popular - hence why Sheffield has 2 races this year!  I didn't realise you could sponsor participants online. That's very good, the missus will be pleased! they have to register their own web space, it is very easy to set up - see http://www.raceforlife.org for details - you don't have to do anything really - it's all set up ready - you just choose what you want!  It's a damn good cause and I'm proud of myself for doing it!!! Shazbat   10 #33 Posted March 6, 2006 I'm debating on this at the moment ..... My mum was on about us doing it last year but nothing came of it. Maybe tomorrow when her internet goes live she'll be browsing the website although this year her and dad'll be on their jollies.  I can just about tackle a 45-min walk to work and back, not sure about 5km
 Share this content via...

abbigrice   10 #36 Posted March 8, 2006 Hi, I'm doing the Race for Life in Sheffield on the 4th of June and I'm trying to raise as much money for Cancer Research as I can-if anyone could sponsor me anything at all, (no amount too small!) I would be really grateful-I know it's a disease that affects many people's lives.  http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/abigailgrice  Thanks for reading, Abbi x
 Share this content via...
