Sundays- for Heaven or for hangovers?

Lazing in bed until a bit ago after a night out;) , I thought how useful Sundays are for recovering from the dubious effects of alcohol, and is the phrase day of rest being taken too literally now?

Meanwhile at this time my grandma is getting up early for church, even at her grand old age of eigh... well, over 21. How many people over school age actually go to church any more? Only elderly people? Will no 'Christian' be religious in the future?

I fought as a kid to get out of going to Sunday school:mad: , when my mates were busy enjoying themselves on their trackers in the park (maybe because the three channels on TV were always full of old folks talking about God!). Even when I was a bit older in the 80's I always thought of Sundays as-

* Boring because all the shops in town were always shut.

* Boring because the pubs always shut early.

Is it indicative of a rise in materialism, or a social decline in religious beliefs (or both?), when we as a society instead worship 'celebrity' (increasingly talentless 3rd rate acts desperate to be on TV...and wearing shades:hihi: )and the facade of 'doing well' for the neighbours whilst being heavily in debt?

Put it this way, I didn't even get INTO my bed till 7.30 this morning. Needless to say it was a great party I was at

Sundays are for waking up when you can and chilling out. I'm now cooking a sunday roast for me and my boyfriend! (So I'm kind of forgiven for staying out so late without him lol)

I call sunday suicidal sunday.Never anything on tv and most of shops are shut or close early.

I like sunday because my other half cooks a cracking roast every sunday. And he does all the house work leaving me to sit on my rear end.charlie x
