Dog show tomorrow!

Takara and I are at the North of England Dalmatian Club Open Show tomorrow...

We're hoping to do well but won't be disappointed if we get chucked!

She's had her nails done cut and filed, had a bath, her ears cleaned and after I've had my bath and done my nails, I'll give her coat a good brush.

I've bought some new shoes for in the ring and some trainers (as mine were falling to bits!) that will do for wandering around in the rest of the time (my feet are awkward in shoes).

Now I've just got to go find the trousers to my suit and a suitable shirt, get a water bottle for Madame T and we're away at 9am tomorrow!

Shoes are great - I'd have never got new shoes if it wasn't for the show!

So wish us luck. We'd like to get placed as we want to get some reviews from judges for when I choose to mate Takara, but, if we get chucked, I'm still taking the best dog home!

She's my pet and friend first and foremost and that's how she will stay no matter what the outcome of tomorrow. I can't get on with these people that think showing is the be all and end all :loopy:

By the way when I say wish us luck - I mean wish me luck! T knows exactly what she's doing it's silly ol' me who hasn't got a clue and usually runs to the wrong area of the ring

Where did you get Takara's name from, its lovely.

hi Shihtzumad,

I'm hoping to get some piccies! Charged up my dad's camera as he's coming along so hopefully!

Someone suggested Takara to me when I knew I was getting her. They told me it came from the Japanese meaning 'precious' or 'treasure'. I thought it sounded lovely and eventually decided on it.

It took ages for her to learn her name and I've now learnt it's the name of a Japanese and American company that produces clever (but really dumb, if you know what I mean) gadgets, like 'doggy woof translators'

Thank you very much though, it does suit her even if it is a company name!

Hi guys

We had great fun (but were there far too long for Madame T!). Takara did really, really well. She had to wait 5 hours for her class and as it was an unbenched show she had to sit next to us, watching all the other dogs. I don't have a cage to take to shows yet and other dogs were either in cages or left in cars but I felt the sun was too warm for that!

By the time we got up there, she was already tired but she gave it her all. The mats set out were a lot longer than the one's she's used to but she moved really well. She stood pretty good for me and apart from a little bounce towards the end, she moved very well.

We didn't get placed, despite our best efforts. There was some strong competition there, some fantastic dogs in the ring and at the end of the day, T just wasn't the judge's type.

Very few livers got placed so that might have had something to do with it, but the others were more experienced as well and had had a rest laid in their crates beforehand.

Due to the amount of shows we have coming up and the fact many will be unbenched, I'm going to invest in a cage to take with us (can't get her's out the car!) so that she can have a rest beforehand.

We're not too disappointed though, I entered this show for practice in the real show environment moreso than to get placed so it's not a big deal!

Main thing is, T had fun (and is now knackered!) and I went the right way!!

Well done Lottie and T it sounds like you both put a lot of effort in and your right you certainly shouldn't be disappointed pratice makes perfect after all

Oh and well done for going the right way :hihi:

thanks  I get really nervous and run the wrong way normally! I did forget to set her up at the beginning though so that might have gone some way towards us not doing so well!

T did really well, I was really pleased with her, and anyone would've thought we'd won the way I praised her at the end!

To say just a week ago she'd been aggressive towards other dogs due to a phantom pregnancy, she was just amazing and really made me proud!
