max as been very good, he only trickled a few times when he got excited, he now stands at the door to let me know he wants to go out. the first 3 days we had him, he just laid facing the wall with his head under the radiator, he wouldnt even look at us, but on the 4th day he changed so much, it was like we had, had him forever. now hes a pest with biting. you know he might stop whining and barking if you put him in a cage, my vet advised me to buy one cos it would make max feel safe and secure, but i thought it would be cruel, however he was right, max loves it and is no trouble at all when i go out. he does bark though if he hears a noise, he is a good house dog. i just have to keep my eye on him when hes around or i wouldnt have anything left. you will get through this, believe me, just dont leave anything around thats of any value

Hi Louise,

Please don't dispair!! She's only a baby and still needs to learn what's acceptable and what isn't. It is a lot of hard work at first but it does pay off.

When she goes to the loo in the wrong place, do you clean it thoroughly? By that, I mean really thoroughly, not just so you can't smell it, you should put something like a safe disinfectant, or the corrector training sprays on it. I think baking soda and water is supposed to work well, but can't remember will have a look for you!

You need to lift the urine out of the carpet, rather than just making sure people can't smell it. Pups will go where they can smell the last time they went, so make sure she can't smell the spot she weed in before. Some people who have lots of trouble even rub the carpet/floor a little with a newspaper before cleaning the carpet so that the newspaper smells like the toilet area ;) Don't know how well this works as I never did it myself. Otherwise, you might be as well trying out the puppy training pads, they have some chemical in them that encourages the puppy to toilet there (although they never worked with Takara, she would wee next to them  )

Make sure that when your pup cries, you do not respond. Don't go to her, don't tell her off and certainly don't comfort her. She will learn that whining elicits a response from you and she will end up training you.

Ignore her the whole time she whines, when she finally settles down and goes quiet (no matter how long this takes, or even if you have to wait for a break for her to take air!) then you can go to her.

Please, please don't pay her any attention when she is crying for it, this is what causes Separation Anxiety which is a highly distressing condition for both owner and dog. You have to be cruel to be kind and this means occassionally ignoring the pup when she comes for fuss, and giving it to her when you are ready instead of when she demands it.

You have to remember, not only has she been taken from her littermates and put straight into the middle of a family of a different species (hard enough to cope with!) but she's also only a baby!

Has she got plenty of toys to amuse her. Try giving her a cuddly teddy put it with her when she is asleep, she might think its one of her brother n sisters.

Have you thought about putting her in a cage, where she feels secure, i use training pads for my puppy and got to say i would never use paper, they are very good, as lotti says they give of a smell, and they no to go back to the same spot, (well mines does).

My puppy is 13 weeks old, and got to say he his brilliant, i guess am lucky.

Be patient, she is only a baby, am sure things will work out fine. Good luck.

she's probably as frustrated as you are - even at 11 weeks they can pick up on these things.

Have you considered having her fostered and or speaking to the breeder or if you are being honest would you rather you just gave her up ?

(and no-one will judge you for being honest)

Only you can decide whats best for you all.

Did you PM Strix about the allergy stuff or speak to your vet about it ?

Odd that it's giving them a rash.

If it comes to it I will re home her for you.
