The Giraffe   10 #25 Posted September 10, 2008 The Workingmen's Club at Lane End, Chapeltown, was demolished around twenty odd years ago. There was a pub in White Lane which is now a house. It is on the right just after you start to climb the hill. Sorry, I can't remember the name but I have seen a photo of it. I shall try and find out.     oooh memories  I used to live around the corner from this pub, went to my first disco there, used to play in the carpark with our wooden stilts my dad made and ride our bikes down the steps (cause we were brave like that!)  We also used to get told off by my mum for crossing the river behind the pub and climbing the wall onto our street (Staindrop View) rather than walking around the road way.  Watch it being knocked down the the houses built that I'm told flood every winter.........
