Wireless Routers...

I am on BTBroadband and at the moment i have got a Netgear Wireless Router (Range Max). I did a speed test from this website and it came to 786 dowload speed and 288 upload speed.

I can download 110kps from my Netgear wireless router. Is that good or should i be getting more than that? If so do i need to find a Wireless Router that is suitable for BTBroadband?

Thanks

sounds like you are on a 1 Mb line there

can you repeat the speed test at different times and see if your download speed changes through the day, you could have been unlucky and been sharing your bandwidth with a bunch of people downloading movies

but if it stays at 110kb/s then something is wrong though

you make have some interference on your line, make sure you have ADSL filters on each telephone socket you have in the house.

Failing that you mak have to get BT to do a line test for you.

We have so many questions about wireless, it amazes me.

However, my most recent problem was with replacing my dual handset wireless telephone.

ADSL wireless router. No problem with old 'phone.

New 'phone, interference like you wouldn't believe.

Tracked it down to the micro filter. Originally bought a cheap one that did work with the old 'phone, but not this one.

Paid £15 quid for it, but everything is fine and dandy now.

Yes i've got abt 4 Micro Filters and they are the same! :loopy: That Micro filter you have bought for 15 quid sounds like a really special 1! I might have to give that 15 quid filter a try. Where did you get it from?

It's an Advent. Got it from Currys on Chesterfield Road.

Not saying it will sort your problems, just that it sorted mine.

But, in effect, the new telephone alerted me to the fact that my cheap filter was not up to the job.
