Hi there its Ross Pettifer,

I left Castle MA on 13th July 2009 for personal reasons, since leaving i have nothing to do with Castle MA, its owners, partners or instructors. I am no longer involved in anyway what so ever.

If anyone would like any information on decent places to train in sheffield please feel free to PM me.

All the best with your new career. Nice to see that you are finally back into martial arts at long last. Being a doorman every night, I know it did pay the bills but its not the way forward unless you enjoy living that lifestyle week in week out.

I re-read the Fighting Arts International series of interviews with a guy called Gary Spiers ----- a legend in the 'door security' field ......

Some scary stories ----- ears bitten off, katana's used (al la Crocodile Dundee) ..... being glassed by a 'lady' just under the knackers!!!!

Terry O'Neil had a very healthy respect for the guy!!! From the stories, I wouldn't want to have lived his life!!!!

Yes, Shoto,

Apparently the only man who hospitalised him ( and for whom he has the utmost respect) was an Okinawan Karate teacher called Morio Higgaonna. I believe he ,Gary Spiers, tells of this in an article he wrote in Fighting Arts Magazine a few years ago.

Apparently Spiers 'contacted' Higaonna's groin twice and felt the result a knee into his nose ......

Spiers died a few years ago ----- just 57!!!

All of the above, interesting as it may seem has little or no bearing upon Ross Pettifer, Castle BBA or of Ross's return to his roots and to him teaching at Castle BBA.

All the best for the future Ross. Not long after getting into BJJ I watched the documentary about you ( and of course Pep); really strange to see 393 on TV-it didn't improve it! Cheers, Noel
