Which dvd recorder?

I've scanned through the various comparison sites and am still non-plussed.

 

Can anyone recommend a good dvd recorder around the £150-ish mark? I'm wanting one that definately plays avi(Xvid?) dvd's, and at a push if I could also have one that has freeview. I also have to consider if it'll be compatible with my surround sound system(not too essential though)

 

I was thinking of a Wharfedale from Argos, but dunno...

i bought a lg dvd divx high def with usb on the front so u can transfer avi on a usb stick from pc to watch ((lg player £60)) from currys down meadowhall retail park im sure they do the same that record aswell

don't go for the Packard Bell's range of Easy DVD. I have one a easy DVD 250. It's a DVDRW and HDD recorder and DivX XviD. It also lacks basic things like putting stuff from DVD to HDD, a Quiet fan, not all DivX is supported, The Remote turns your TV funny, The TV remote send the DVDRW funny, Random Lock ups,Disk burn times of 5+ hours some times.

It's black and was only ?90 new from NEC. But saying that for ?90 still you wanna smash it up when it f**ks up and that daily.
