Most formidable females in 'living memory'?

Having just watched the feisty Judge Judy, I wondered if herself and the redoubtable Joan Rivers, another tough New Yorker, had ever been seen in the same room together? lol.

Seriously though, I also thought about our own homegrown ladies;-

Anne's Widdecombe & Robinson; the late Mo Mowlem; Mrs Thatcher (and Carol!); Nina Myskow? :o

Which females do you think are the most formidable of recent years, "living memory" being the vague phrase I believe??

Fanny Craddock - although whether she was actually a woman or not is perhaps open to question.... :suspect:

I always thought Margaret Thatcher took some inspiration from her in terms of her personal charm and people-skills.... :gag:

Betty Boothroyd, the first female speaker of the Commons.

A true northern woman, she cut through the nonsense and got it down to brass tacks.

Why have you refered to all the others by name, but called Thatcher 'Mrs'?

This is some thing I cannot understand.

The only time a persons title is normally used is when they are competeting against profesionals as an amatuer.

Call the evil witch by her new Title if you must.

But never call her Mrs, that is an insult to all the married women of this country, who suffered so vilely under her destruction of our country.

I don't like her personally, and dunno why I did, but still. Does it matter that much?
