Anyone else think that when you go for an interview the co. should contact you after

I think it is sooooo rude when people do this. I went for an interview at Boots Heeley Retail Park 8 days ago. The interview lasted about 2 minutes, as if they had already given the job away. Maybe I just wasn't what they were looking for, but with the couple of questions they asked they couldn't find out much... anyway that's not the point, I was prepared not to get it as I had no relevent experience but thought I'd give it a shot.

The lady said she had a few more people to see that day and the day after, they'd know by the friday and letters would be sent. Now maybe I am jumping the gun but I would've hoped to hear by now. I don't mind that I didn't get the job, but I just hate it when they don't have the curtesy to even tell you?

This is not the first time this has happened aswell (not with Boots).

Anyone else have similar experiences?

yes i think its rude too

I also think when you write to a company about a job position it would be nice is they got back in touch my son has wrote for many jobs and not heard anything back from most of them surely a quick phone call or a letter stating that the position had gone or that your not suitable wouldn't hurt.

If you go for an interview it is rude for them not to get back in touch and tell you you haven't got the job.

It can be more difficult sometimes to write to everyone who may send a letter replying to a job advert, or to reply to someone who has asked if there are any vacancies.

We get quite a few letters and e-mails each week asking if there are any vacancies, and it is difficult to reply to them all sometimes.

OH, DEFINITELY, I agree with everything that reddissert says...

I have found on so many occasions tht an employer will 'ring back later this afternoon' even if I haven't got the job, and they sometimes even promise to give feedback to unsuccessful applicants.

I have had HUNDREDS of interviews the last two years, and yes, some companies do ring back or send a letter back which often arrives just the next day or two, saying 'You have been unsuccessful' and often giving some reasons.

However, on just as many occasions, I wait WEEKS sometimes for a response, then finally ring back or even have to call IN PERSON (If their phone is dead) to squeeze the truth out of them about WHY I wasn't suitable for the job. Such employers should KNOW BETTER, and there is NO EXCUSE for the HR temps or secretary not to give unsuccessful applicants that phone call, because that is their JOB, and if they can't do it, they might as well give it up to someone (i. e. like ME), who WILL!!! LOL!!!

Strangely enough, with EVERY ONE the jobs I have actually had in the past, I have had to wait for AT LEAST three weeks after the interview before the reply saying 'you were successful'; sometimes I phoned back shortly after and their reply was 'no decision yet', so at least I hold out hope when I hear nothing for a while. Usually, successful applicants have to be kept on the long finger as various checks, references, and cross-checks have to be made, and for obvious reasons, the employer cannot jump the gun about the applicant being successful.

I always think it very rude when companies don't contact you after an interview. Quite frankly I think that it just proves that the company isn't a very nice company to work for.

I have to say that my manager is very good as EVERY job query that comes in he answers them all personally. He says that even though he hasn't anything to offer they have taken the time to write in so he should also make the effort to respond. Yes it is a very small company I work for and not a large corporation which very often seems to have forgotten that it actually has PEOPLE working for it rather than a NUMBER.

Some organisations won't tell the unsuccessful candidates until they are sure that the successful one's references are ok, and that they do want the job. If the first choice doesn't want it, then it makes sense to offer it to the next best applicant - and it wouldn't be much of a confidence booster to firstly be told you're not suitable, then to be offered the post? Believe me in these days of equal opportunities, 8 days is nothing!

Ask anyone who has been for an interview for a job at the Home Office! Their selection processes & checks are so thorough it can take months.

You just reminded me I forgot to post my form for the Home Office and the closing date was Friday 16th! Oh well, *think* I have a job at the hospitals when I find a dept. I wanna work in and stuff, need to wait for paperwork etc. to come back though (CRB, Health Checks, References etc.).

It has now been 12 days since the job interview and considering she was letting the successful applicant (and supposedly the other applicants too)know by that Friday, I doubt they are going to bother and to be honest, some of you might think I am a bit sad, but I am going to complain to Boots Head Office about it because I made special arrangements for childcare etc. and took the time to go there, the least they could do is send a quick letter or a quick phonecall, I think it's disgusting.

The one at Meadowhall employed a mate of mine, after he was a xmas temp- I dunno why as he used to show up anything upto 3hours late sometimes! And after a few weeks of being permanent he had a week off with "sickness and diarohhea" (sp), when actually he had one day off as we were all not at work that day and then he was getting his car back from the DVLA clampers/ fixing it for the following few days. Not saying I never pulled a sickey but I would have thought they'd think twice about employing someone who wasn't great as a temp!

I used to shop all the time at Boots, as did my mother and someone elses mum I know, and I know in the grand scheme of things it won't make a blind bit of difference, but all 3 of us have stopped shopping there now just because I think that they're arseholes after this.

I've had this once, I went through a lengthy interview process at Firs Hill school - two interviews, shortlisted to the final three, exercises, full day interviews, tour of the school...the whole thing. Nothing. Zilch.

I spoke to Personnel at the Council who the vacancy was co-ordinated through and asked them if a decision had been made. They told me it had and said they'd ask the school to contact me to give me feedback. Again, nothing. Zilch.

This has just made me lose complete and total respect for the school and the management there. For a school who harped on about how high their standards were, this just contradicted everything they preached to me. It's not fair to be left in limbo, nor is it fair to run a full recruitment process and be unprofessional at the end of it.
