What to do?! Housing help?!

After bidding for almost a year, me and my OH have been offered a flat -now we bidded for the flat in deperation as my fella has a dog and we would be taking him with us if possible but we were giving up so the flat was a last option. Now we have been offered the flat, so what do we do, turn it down and hope they offer us a house sometime soon? Or take the flat and let the dog stay with his parents for the time being?

well you bid for it, theory being you wouldn't bid for something you wouldn't accept. You could turn it down but may be waiting another year for another property and not necessarily a house.

Thats what I'm thinking , we could be waiting months for another offer lpus it may not be in the area we want whearas this one is. Plus as we have no priority I think we will only get offered flats, just gotta convince my fella!

Becky, have you checked with Sheffield Homes what the situation is regarding dogs in these flats? This is what is stated in tenancy conditions, the second paragraph may be of help?

You must not keep a dog or a

cat in a flat or maisonette

which has shared parts or a

shared entrance.

If you live in a small block of

flats or maisonettes we will

give you written permission to

keep a dog or cat if all the

tenants who use the same

shared parts of the building

have agreed to you keeping

the dog or cat.

If we give our permission we

may withdraw it if your pet

causes nuisance or upset to

any of your neighbours.

As you have already found, there is a lack of empty properties, and if you have been successful in getting the area you want then perhaps you should accept. Unless you have children, its unlikely you'd get a house (not impossible) whether you have priority or not.

Thanks for that, I will look into it about having pets there, he can stay with my partners parents if we cant have him. I know we are actually quite lucky as most people don t get offered anywhere especially the place they want to live.
