Wholesale Flowers-Sheffield Flower Market

Hi everyone,

I am getting married in October and am looking to do a lot of the flower arrangements myself i.e. table decorations etc (but having bouquet done professionally).

Has anyone ever used the sheffield flower market? I've heard that there is one in attercliffe and if so can you tell me:

Can you buy all different types of flowers that are in bloom at that time of year?

What sort of prices are the flowers?

Do you have to buy in bulk or can you pick and choose what you buy?

What time do you need to get there to get the best selection (some stalls say that they are open from 3am!!)

Can you pick up stuff like oasis, ribbons and arrangement containers vases/boxes etc?

Thanks :help::)

I haven't been to the one in Sheffield but i have been to the 1 in Leeds with my Nan before. You dont have to really buy in bulk. We did buy some flowers that were just in bunches but you get more in that 1 bunch then from a florist. Maybe if you asked them to order you in specific flowers from abroad they would do if they nt around england at whatever time of year. There was a section for vases and oasis however my nan usually goes to a proper wholesale place specifically for that but you need a NAFAS member card.

Oasis and bases can actually be bought from florists.

Know its no info on the sheff 1 but hope it helped.

No problem. Yeah we went at 5am. The nice bacon sarnie on the way out made up for the time though

I've been a few times. I love it! It's open from 6 am till 1 pm. The choice of flowers will take your breath away. When you say 'bulk' it will be something like a bundle of 20 roses. There's greenery too. As you come on to the site (it's a whole load of wholesale places) there's about three or 4 flower warehouses on your right. The first place on the right sells all the sundries you could possibly want at reasonable prices. Go down and take a look beforehand one morning!

You come off at the same parkway exit as you do for Makro and Costco but you go straight past costco until you see what looks like a car park entrance with a barrier. The barrier is up so just drive straight through and turn right. You can't miss it. They do have a website but I can't find the address at the moment.

what sheffield needs is something like this

Columbia Road Flower Market in london

Columbia Road Flower market exploded into action. Derelict shops nearby where taken over, benefiting from the increased trade in the area.

The market is now visited by 1,000's of garden enthusiasts every Sunday throughout the year, searching for rarities or general plants at wholesale prices. At 6 each Sunday morning the sleepy street comes alive as traders start unloading their lorries. The stock and prices change every week. At 8am trading starts and carries on until 2pm.

I did the same thing for my wedding (though i did my bouquet too!) we popped along to the flower wholesaler in Donny early one morning and asked his advice, he told us rough prices, whats in season when you want them, how far ahead to order, how many bunches (and how many flowers in each bunch) and when to pick them up.

that all sounds great thanks for your replys.

Em, whereabouts is the flower wholesaler in Donny? I'm assuming that its the same sort of set up as the flower market here in Sheffield.

Also what sort of prices did you face if you don't mind me asking? Just really trying to work out budgets in my mind!

:P
