Biscuit head   10 #13 Posted March 12, 2007 Has all the hall marks of a classic ghost plane sighting. If I'm not mistaken.
 Share this content via...

cgksheff   44 #16 Posted March 12, 2007 The landing strip is on the south side of the valley.  The locals are familiar with these occasional flights.  It was not a ww2 ghost.
 Share this content via...
peakma   10 #17 Posted March 13, 2007 I live out in the peak district and occasionaly see very fast and loud low flying militry/fighter? planes zooming through.I was in Hathersage last week sometime and saw them, that will of been around 4.30. Only a guess but I think they might practice out here.
 Share this content via...
Claritas   10 #18 Posted March 13, 2007 Thanks for the replies. I've just never seen planes flying so low in this area and it just seemed a bit strange. Also, we're 99% sure it was a really old-style plane.
 Share this content via...

Don_Kiddick   11 #22 Posted March 13, 2007 Was it the press plane?  There was something on the local news about Chatsworth opening something or other earlier & it showed aerial photographs.
 Share this content via...
Sheffette   10 #23 Posted March 13, 2007 Are you sure it wasn't a glider - you get quite a few in the peak and they are soundless and can appear to be going quite slowly on air currents. nice photo by the way.
 Share this content via...
upinwath   10 #24 Posted March 13, 2007 Hard to see from such a small image but it looks like a single engine high wing monoplane something like a cessna 152.  Common with aero clubs so no too much chance of it being a ghost.
