Keys on keyboard doing odd things

Just got a whole new pc at work but the @ function & the " function have exchanged roles...

 

Is it resolvable by a technophobe? (yours truly)...

Its your regional settings in the contol panel.

Assuming that it is running Windows XP ...

 

Start > Control Panel > Regional & Language Options

 

In the box, does it say English (United States)?

 

Change it to English (United Kingdom).

theres a couple of places that tell you the region ...............one IS wrong, thats why it does it, try the "other"

OK. Try changing it to English (United States) and restarting the machine to see if that makes a difference.

Weird that. I noticed at work today that when I pressed the @ - i got a * - so I can't enter customers email addresses on our database. If I put an * instead, it just says "invalid email address"

I've just noticed that the pound sign function is giving a # instead.

 

And the # key gives a \ - crazy man
