P C O S ...dont ask me to say it... do you suffer?

Over the past few years i have approached the doctors about problems with my fertility, skin, weight gain, feeling tired all the time etc etc.

Various tests have been carried out all came back o.k, i even suggested to my doctor that my problems seem to be hormonal but i have never been tested for PCOS.

I had never heard of PCOS until yesterday when a doctor was speaking about it on tv, i suffer all the symptoms.

After visiting the doctors and suggesting i feel i probably suffer from PCOS the doctor agreed it sound highly likely.

The thing that has annoyed me is if the doctor took the time to read over my notes and familiarise themselves with me, the patient, then surely this would have been diagnosed/ruled out ages ago.

I feel particularly angry becauseit took us 4 years before i fell pregnant with my daughter and we have been trying for another child for some time now (as the doctor knows) and with simple medication for this syndrome it can dramaticly increase the fertility rate. i have not been diagnosed with PCOS but i am convinced this is the answer to my symptoms.

Anyway, rant over....

Do you suffer from this and how was you diagnosed?

Did you have problems concieving after being diagnosed?

Once diagnosed, how long before your symptoms are controlled?

Hello freya's mum i had the same symptons as you, my doctors at richomond were fantastic with me, i went for loads of test and scans and stuff luckley i dont have it. but i would ask for the blood tests to be done and also get thme to test your thyroid's that maybe part of it too.

i suffer with this, was told that i could not have a child naturally but got pregnant easily, they counterbalance the high testosterone in your body with some other hormone....

been confirmed that i have PCOS, i now have to go for further tests and decide which of the symptoms worrys me most as to which route should be taken next, all this sounds quite complicated and i wouldnt know whare to start.

obviously the fertility side of things should be looked at first but there are physical things that finally make sense, although i suffer none to extremes and none are too worrying i would like to sort those out.

does treating one symptom(fertility) usually have a domino effect of sorting the other more minor problems out?

would like to hear from anyone who suffers this syndrome.

thanks,

i feel for anyone who cannot concieve, it must be heartbraking.

i was just hoping that someone may be able to chat with me to let me in on how they decided to go with treatment as my doctor is pretty cruddy with the information available.
