Weird experience at a chinese restaurant last night

A group of us from work went to this place back in August & had a great time. I'd seriously only suggest going if you want fun with Karaoke though because the food wasn't up to much. It's brought to you at your table and you can keep asking for as much as you like which is great but there's very little variety and generally I wouldn't recommend it for the food.

The Karaoke is a different matter - we had an excellent time with this & the food didn't matter at all. The place is a bit of a dive (& the OP's post made me laugh a lot) but it's a place to love for that very reason (you just have to know in advance otherwise you will be disappointed).

I think a Karaoke forum night out here would be a great idea

Chinese people, and most Asians for that matter with many many exceptions obviously, normal working class in ones rather than the get - up - and - go types that emigrate to countries like the UK, are actually among the most racist people you'll find anywhere in the world. They're notorious for it.

Chinese employers and settlers in Africa have a terrible reputation for racism against black people.

My girlfriend is Chinese and she works in a takeaway in Hillsborough. I've no doubt that she has to deal with some complete drunken d**kheads there, but yet she enjoys life here and I've never heard her say that she thinks British people are rude.

You have to remember that many of the chinese who come here from other countries don't get much chance to mix outside their group. They tend to work long hours and excepting the person on the counter many have no English language abilities.

Consider a youngish girl alone in a foreign country with only her work mates she can trust. She may see many of the bad end of british society and is it any wonder that they can get a very bad idea of us.

I have been with a mainland chinese girl who was attacked in the street while I was with her. OK it was a minor thing with no physical harm to her but it's a swine that some people consider it fine to have a go at her for being foreign.

These scumbags are just part of the reason some foreign people go away to tell others of a race of people ruled by alcohol and lacking any manners.

This is one of your quotes

I'm not defending the nut case just stating that we should not blame all of any group for the actions of a few.

This is another

I agree but we must always look past the image we are given and see what is behind it.

And then you make yourself out to be a hypocryte

Bull. If a place is full of drunken idiot yobs I don't want to be there.

It gives this country a bad name and makes me feel ashamed to be part of it.

Again your hypricritical manner is laughable

When a guest in my country is abused on a regular basis by idiot drunken yobs and leaves the country with an idea that all british people are like that it's all of us who have failed. I'm sorry to say that many foreign visitors do.

I was in a take away in Goldthorpe once when an idiot walked in and asked the girl behind the counter for a f**K.

As this thread is on about a Chinese restaurant I must presume all your friends who have been abused and the ones that see these drunken oafs so often work in the restaurants to be such a witness, If they are guests in our country why are they working?

The restaurant trade is based around people eating and drinking and unfortunately the two go hand in hand, do you think the restaurants would like no drunk people in there establishments all together, I dont think so.

I have the pleasure to know many very nice people from mainland china and Malaysian Chinese and many do get this idea of us.

See I told you the actions of a few will influence the opinions of others.

just in case anyone IS suffering from the delusion that racism is a phenonomen confined only to White people from Europe and the northern hemisphere in general, and 'northern chavs' in particular, this story made the headlines in Chiang Mai, Thailand, today :

http://www.thai-blogs.com/index.php?blog=8&title=another_crackdown_on_sexy_uni_uniforms&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

Khunying Chaisri Sri-arun, the top boss of the Cultural Ministry, was astonished to find a small group of Rajaphat University students clad in sexy short skirts and tight top shirts, smoking cigarettes and chatting to black male tourists at Wat Pho yesterday! The Cultural Ministry, tipped off by a tour group of Thai tourists, were informed that 5 young ladies wearing sexy-short-tight university uniforms had been spotted chatting with ‘coloured’ male tourists. Outraged to receive such a call, Khunying called up the cameras and instantly flew to the scene, and right enough the girls were still there talking to the guys.

the only reason the press made any fuss over this at all was because the guys they were talking to were black. With some exceptions, racism permeates East Asian culture to a much greater extent than it does European and north American, in my opinion.

after all, unlike in Europe and even the United States, which were among the first countries in the world to abolish slavery, slavery continued in most of these countries well into the 20th century.

it's the same when some US Marine gets into trouble in the Philippines. When it happens to be a black guy, the furore / outrage is greatly intensified.
