ruffday   10 #2908 Posted June 14, 2009 Like I said I think Fiona Long is fantastic and I am well aware of all her awards, have seen all of her portfolio actually - my other half had a great piece done by her. But at the end of the day all tattoo artists have their own style, and no matter how good they are if its not the style you want there is no point going to them. Believe me I have researched all the best Sheffield artists long and hard, spent months looking at portfolios before I settled on Leah Moule. Fiona is certainly one of the best in the country, all I am saying is that Alice in Wonderland isn't an area I see falling into her style - thats all. However that does depend on how the person who is having the tattoo done wants it to be treated of course!   Well i belive she would have no problem doing it. I have seen lots of her work over the 17 years i have known her.
 Share this content via...
Oddgitt   10 #2909 Posted June 21, 2009 Hello All!  Long time lurker, first time poster.  After alot of consideration & umming & ahhing I've decided that life is too short, so i'm after getting some custom work done. I'm really into Japanese stuff and am looking firstly for a Koi on the back of my shoulder which will (if I don't bottle it after that) grow into a shoulder & chest piece.  First question - I've read on here that there's a few good artists in Sheffield, but do any of them stand out for Japanese work?  Secondly - I live very near Orchard square and have been in to see Quoz and the gang. I saw some freehand Jap work he was working on and it looked very good. But he's got a 3 month waiting list (which I ultimately take as a postive thing) and there's been some moans on here about them. Should I wait or look elsewhere?  Thanks for the help!  Cheers!  Odd
 Share this content via...

Mercenary   10 #2911 Posted June 26, 2009 I want to get some half sleeves done one both arms that will incorpoate some of these Tolkien heraldic devices. The pictures on that site aren't very sharp (they are taken from a Tolkien calendar from the 60s) but seeing as though I have no tattoos at all I was hoping that I might be directed to a good studio within 150 miles or so that are reknowned for good half sleeves and stuff like in the link. WhiteHawk   10 #2913 Posted June 27, 2009 Had my first tattoo done today at Van Schaicks in Stocksbridge.  I've got White Hawk in Arabic on the top of my back. (White Hawk is what my name means so I thought it would be cool!)  Didn't hurt half as much as I was expecting although when he was doing the outline and got to the bit towards my right shoulder it really hurt. So much so that I came over really dizzy and had to have a drink. Was absolutely fine after a minute or so and the colouring in wasn't a problem at all. Ellybogg19 Â Â 10 #2914 Posted June 29, 2009 Hi I had my sons name on my arm and my friend had one done and her tongue pierced last Friday it was at a shop at Beighton - think it was called Wild Lotus. He was a lovely person (think he was called Jason) very proffessional and very clean. He does loads of custom stuff so if you are wanting something original he's great very resonable priced as well. Oddgitt   10 #2915 Posted June 29, 2009 Thou Art on Chapel Walk is pretty good  I went in and had a look and I was very impressed. Had a chat to Tacho who specialises in Japanese work and he seemed keen - his stuff is very impressive (he's got a myspace page with pics). The rest of the staff were very friendly too.  Plus, they've only got a 2 week waiting time as opposed to 3 months!
 Share this content via...
