purple.sarah   10 #3873 Posted February 23, 2011 I'm guessing you mean swastikas? You'll find these in quite a few tattoo shops. Hopefully not in relation to nazism though. http://history1900s.about.com/cs/swastika/a/swastikahistory.htm  No, it was years ago so I can't remember the words, just the jist, but it was offensive phrases. I am aware of the origins of the swastika and it doesn't offend me, the nazi misuse of it does. But I wasn't talking about swastikas. AnoyinOrange   10 #3875 Posted February 23, 2011 Need advise and this seems to be a good place to look. I've been helping out in a tattoo shop as an apprentice and I'm a bit concerned about a few things. The first thing is that all the waste (bloody kitchen towels etc) isnt being picked up by a specialist company. A bloke comes every couple of weeks and takes the bin bags to the tip in the back of his car. The bloke doesnt wear gloves are anything and the bin bags are taken to a normal refuse tip. The second thing is that when I'm cleaning down after a client I've been told to use surgical spirits, is this ok to use because in other shops I've seen that they use tri gene?. The last thing is that I have to clean dirty tubes in a sink where the pots are washed etc, theres no seperate sink and I'm just worried about cross contamination. I really worried about these things and I just need some advise.   Hi misfit666, are talking about the one with Staffy walking about in the shop? i walked in the other day, saw the dog roaming around freely, then saw my friends 15 year old daughter walking out with a tattoo.. i think its a rather mucky studio too. iv witnessed the tattooist going out for a smoke and then going on to tattoo people with the same gloves he wore. i would definately avoid that shop ! xmarley21x   10 #3876 Posted February 24, 2011 Hi guys!!  I need some serious help and not from others who are just trying to promote their business! im after a tattoo in april, and been through 3 phases of wanting one now, but think i have the balls to do it.....lol. can anyone seriously recommend a good tattooists who are good with nervous people? Im also after numbing cream as well, heard good and bad reviews about numbing cream so im totally confused. some say they have had it and it works, some say they havent, obv i know tattooists are against it as it creates more hard work for them...  I decided to check out a few anyway! heres what i found!  dragon at intake - went in enquiring about chinese symbols, and the girl pretty much said ohh u need to go to a chinese restaurant as ours arent gauranteed?? so can a chinese restaurant not write t*at on a piece of paper then? then she was more bothered about my pumps as they were vivenne westwood, not really interested in all about somebody potenitally wanting a tattoo, so i pretty much walked out.  went to thou art on chapel walk - i went in and said do u have any lily designs n showed him one in a magazine, he quoted it me £50-60 and said we can draw it free hand! which sounded positive  i then went to feline off eccy road, is it me or is the vibe just not cosy in there? had to wait a few minutes for someone to acknowledge me and then a woman came out n i said hav u got any lily designs n showed her the book, she was like we can draw tht, and i was like ohh what about the designs, she said weve got hundreds of lilys sarcastically i think :/ i then said i was nervous obviously and wanted numbing cream, she said we dont sell it or use it here, and gave me the reasons why....bit offputting to somebody thats very nervous! n then i asked how much it would be for an average sized lily, not small and not massive, inbetween and she said between 120-150, and about 2 to 2hours work? i nearly laughed in her face? i think i could manage 45 minutes depending on how it went, so i pretty much thanked her and walked out....i couldnt believe it!! they seem a bit up their own arse!!  does anybody know anywhere good? and would you recommend the numbing cream? i have spoken to people that swear by it as well. i just want somebody good i have had nigel kurts in barnsley is good too but same again meant to be good like feline apprently the best in sheffield yet i didnt get that image at all when i went into feline.  i know it sounds a bit stuck up, but im just really picky and nervous  sorry :/ xx
 Share this content via...
