I always swallow olive stones.

 

I've been told by friends that it could cause all kinds of problems from gallstones to an appendicitis.

 

I was told by a wizened, old, healthy-looking Romanian sage that I should eat them.

 

Who should I believe?

You certainly shouldn't get gallstones.

I doubt you are digesting them in any way really... can't see that it would do too much harm.
