Does religion not govern the whole fabric of society here? and for the queen to be head of the Church of England must be for you equally as stupid.

No, religion does not govern the whole fabric of society anymore. It has taken a long time to pry ourselves away from the grip of the Church and we are all the better for it.

On one hand you wish to be secular and on the other insular. All religions are part of this society Jews and Muslims and Christians all belong to the same part of the world and equally as foreign to little England.

You cannot argue that Christianity is equally as foreign to this country as Islam. Christianity has been the main religion in this country for over a millenium. Besides, Christianity has at least evolved (little choice given the dwindling number of followers) and is practiced is a way that is not culturally foreign to most people.

That's not to mention your quiet acceptance of Budism, Hinduism, Hare Krishna, and many more subsects of Christianity that don't quite follow each other.

The key word you use is "quiet".

Like I said, society can easily tollorate people living outside the mainsrteam but if these sects and factions start getting a little vocal, and a little too demanding, then they are going to meet resistance. They can expect their views and beliefs to be challenged as is the right of society.

It may not be racist then to single out Islam because Islam isn't a race but blaming a muslim in Sheffield for an arrest in Birmingham, and catagorising people based on appearance is a touch racist. I hope you can find that attitude equally as stupid.

I have never blamed any Muslim in Sheffield for an arrest in Birmingham... that would be stupid!

Judging someone solely on the colour of their skin, I would agree, is stupid. However, making a judgement that someone wearing a turban is probably Sihk isn't racist nor stupid. Making the judgement that someone wearing the niqab is Muslim, and practicing as less than liberal version of Islam, is also not racist nor stupid. I would even go as far as saying that it is not be racist for a police office, during a terror alert , to opt to question the young asian lad that is sweating instead of the blue-rinse granny biting her nails - it is playing the odds, it is common sense and it is reasonable.

Like it or not, when religion is part of your life it says something about you. Judging a religion, and its followers, is not racist.

In years past, English supporters were banned from international matches because there was an element within their ranks that were hell bent on causing trouble. The majority of England supports were decent people who didn't want any trouble but that didn't stop them from all being tarred with the same brush. Was it fair? Who cares. It was the right thing to do. We needed to clean up our act. The attitude of fans who didn't stand up to, or report, thugs needed to change. The attitude of the governing bodies needed to change. And they did. We sorted the problem and gradually gain respect and some trust again... it has to be earned you know.

This is the problem facing Muslims now. When a Muslim police officer refuses to shake the hand of her Chief Constable then she doesn't only insult him but insults our culture on behalf of your religion. When a Muslim school teacher refuses to removed a veil to teach our children then it is again your religion saying it comes first. When Muslims blow people up on the Tube in the name of Islam, then I'm afraid it reflects badly on all of you.

You can't go on saying "most Muslims are moderate and peaceful". It won't do I'm afraid. You can't wash your hands of responsibility. Muslims need to clean up their act if they want acceptance and respect.

As for integration, would you suggest a lable like the "intel inside" logo on each foreigners forehead or what? If the people who have a problem with skin colour of others, and base all their views about an individual on such stereotyping then how does the person with coloured skin integrate? It's not an if but I do have lots of English friends, (and one or two have been to be racist to others) but if someone who doesn't know me, and is prejudiced against me through appearance alone, then how is that my fault. Surely this setting up of hoops for muslims to jump through is the problem for integration.

That would only be integration if everyone else in society had a similar logo on. You are being a bit silly now.

I have already said that prejudice based on skin colour alone is wrong and stupid. However, judging someone based on their beliefs and actions is not prejudice.

Very well put, Zamo. And most ordinary, reasonable people feel exactly the same.

Personaly i go for an over the shoulder slinky kind of thing that accentuates my more feminine side without ditracting form the true masculinity underneath.

Now stop being a pr!ck and answer my question ive been waiting whats seems like forever for.

Unless you cant, but then that wouldnt be too much of a shock as you seem to be banging a little too hard on the 'poor muslim, poor me' drum and i for one am tired of that tune.

Its obvious to me you are just out to ruffle feathers with your blinkered views and 'im a muslim, feel sorry for me' routine.

:loopy:

And youll be pleased to know i wont be waitng any longer for your answer which you obviously have no intention of giving in any reasonable way.

Its a pity there isnt a middle finger emoticon so this one will have to do:loopy:

In birmingham nasty plot to capture, torture and behead a inosent passer by.

Is enough, enough now. yes there are good muslims but a majority of them seem to be following his bizzare cult to make it in to some sort of reason to kill.

Should we introduce the death penalty for these people (not just for muslim terrorists but cold blooded killers in general)

I think these terrorist should be put to death and close friends and family should be sent to their own country. "Born in england" i hear you say, well send them to the country they are ment to be in.

What a prat!

These 'terrorist' plots just become more and more bizarre and they are all the invention of the government. Not one of them worries me in the slightest and I wish other people would wake up and realise it is all invented to scare the public to obedience.

I can't comment on whether this or that plot is real,( though there are plenty of vicious deadbeats waiting to be cajoled into them), but I'm inclined to suppose that both things are more or less true: murderous tossers; and the governments desire to enact powers of unfettered oppressiveness against the population on the back of panicky fearmongering.:)

I am glad to see that not only do you lump all muslims together, you're lumping all Christians together too. It's a little unfair to suggest everyone else is as disdtant from Christianity as you are. What exactly about the church is it that you find it a grip? The society today in britain is as a result of being shaped by guidance of the church, and to imagin otherwise is disingenuous.

You cannot argue that Christianity is equally as foreign to this country as Islam. Christianity has been the main religion in this country for over a millenium. Besides, Christianity has at least evolved (little choice given the dwindling number of followers) and is practiced is a way that is not culturally foreign to most people.

Christianity hasn't evolved but people following it have decided to make changes to suite themselves, it's like a pervert making buggery legal because he feels like it, not the religion that has changed at all. Christianity is not forreign? where exactly is Nazareth anyway? Nowhere near Watford I can tell you. Christianity spread just like Islam spread from the same region, it's only a time difference.

The key word you use is "quiet".

Exactly, so stop screaming :)

That is crux of the matter, it's not the muslims who being vocal but the likes of you screamig due to islamaphobia and blaming muslims for it. The problem is entirely your own perception. You are jumping at sight of your own shadow and blaming muslims for it. Muslims have complained, yes of course, of the unfair and undeserved attention given to them by the media with largely spurious allegations by people like you. There is no challege to society!

I have never blamed any Muslim in Sheffield for an arrest in Birmingham... that would be stupid!

And it certainly is, read this :)

To consider all forms of religion or any particular religion as inferior based on your personal experiece alone, which may be in itself limited, is prejudice. Treat any headcase with contempt it deserves but to treat all muslims as responsible or worse to be complicit in any scheme to do harm to society that they themselves live in is not very intellegent, in fact I would suggest paranoid.

Tab1, you are ignorant of the Reformation and the Enlightenment, which have moulded modern Europeans far more than Christianity. In just about all of your posts I have seen, you are incapable of understanding the basic difference between a theocratic mindset and a freethinking, questioning one. We have become liberated over the last few generations from religious dogmatic straitjackets of the like that you constantly commend. Our social progress has been a hard-won result of brave people prepared to stand up to religious tyranny, dogma and oppression.

You have a totalitarian mindset and are in serious denial of anything bad at all in the Islamic world. Your comment above about homosexuality is a classic case of just how bad religion can be. Ditto your inability to view or respond to females as autonomous, equal human beings. You pretend that no muslims ever say or do anything to give reason for critisism, yet your posts in fact prove the opposite.
