More terrorist plans foiled

Let me set you a test Halibut.......

Name me a single muslim country where non-muslims are treated on exactly the same basis as non-muslims, in relation for example to freedom to practice their religion openly; to open new churches or temples; or to proselytise etc.

Judging by the silence LordC, I take it Halibut, nor anyone else for that matter are able to produce an example of any Muslim country where equality is practiced.

I found this on youtube yesterday.

Rebekah's and the other two ladies crimes??

Giving Muslim children Bibles.

They were given a 3 years prison sentance. Bad enough, but when you compare it to Islamic cleric Bashir who was given a 2 year sentance for masterminding the Bali bombing, you have a supreme example of 'equality' Islamic style.

Why are we still calling this type of thing 'rascism', when it clearly isnt.

Rascism implies a superior race imposing its views and methods on an inferior race.

This is clearly not the case we have here.

It may have been the thinking in the West 20 or 30 years ago, but it is not now.

We have lived and worked with each other for so long now that we are beginning to know each others strenghts and weaknesses.

Speaking for myself and I think most people, a persons race does not matter.

It is their attitude that counts, toward themselves and towards others.

What we are seeing now is the folly of 'multiculturalism', especially where one is determined to be the top dog.

We are seeing self imposed ghettoes being created in our large cities, and even our provincial towns, not to keep people in, but to keep others out.

I cannot see a way out of it at present, we have made a rod for own back, and must be prepared to beaten by it.

It isn't racist to not want Islam taking a foothold in this country... not least because Islam isn't a race.

Prejudice based on the colour of peoples skin is not only unfair but stupid. However, judging people based on their actions and beliefs is not prejudice. When a religion governs how someone conducts their life then it is fair to judge that religion.

I agree to some extent Artisan, and able to accept criticism where it's due and challenge it when it's not, but my gripe was not in general but a pathetic accusation by "The_DADDY" that I was the one being a racist on here.

There are reasons for how things are today, various social circumstance may have dictated that but certainly not due to some master plan by the muslims to take over the west

Glad we agree on some things. ;)

I actually think that the only way for multiculturalism to work is to have one culture that is "top dog".

If a society doesn't share common beliefs, a common culture and a common identity then it isn't really a society. It becomes a series of societies/factions that will ultimately clash. It is unfortunate, but it is human nature, and we can see it in action throughout history. In recent times it happened in the former Yugoslavia and it is happening now in Iraq. I'm not saying civil war is on the horizon in this country but it is a possibility further down the road if we allow our society to become fragmented.

You see, I'm no racist. I don't believe the British are superior to others races. I believe we are just the same. We are just as capable of doing a Yugoslavia or an Iraq given the right circumstances. I don't want us to go down that route and I believe maintaining a common cultural identity is key. It is why I believe there needs to be more integration by people from different cultures and why I don't think we should give any concessions or exemptions for people practice foreign religions. If this means that Muslims find that their relious beliefs are not always accommodated or respected then that is too bad.

Prejudice based on the colour of peoples skin is not only unfair but stupid. However, judging people based on their actions and beliefs is not prejudice. When a religion governs how someone conducts their life then it is fair to judge that religion.

Does religion not govern the whole fabric of society here? and for the queen to be head of the Church of England must be for you equally as stupid. On one hand you wish to be secular and on the other insular. All religions are part of this society Jews and Muslims and Christians all belong to the same part of the world and equally as foreign to little England. That's not to mention your quiet acceptance of Budism, Hinduism, Hare Krishna, and many more subsects of Christianity that don't quite follow each other. It may not be racist then to single out Islam because Islam isn't a race but blaming a muslim in Sheffield for an arrest in Birmingham, and catagorising people based on appearance is a touch racist. I hope you can find that attitude equally as stupid.

As for integration, would you suggest a lable like the "intel inside" logo on each foreigners forehead or what? If the people who have a problem with skin colour of others, and base all their views about an individual on such stereotyping then how does the person with coloured skin integrate? It's not an if but I do have lots of English friends, (and one or two have been to be racist to others) but if someone who doesn't know me, and is prejudiced against me through appearance alone, then how is that my fault. Surely this setting up of hoops for muslims to jump through is the problem for integration.
