What never fails to amaze me is the way they think they are so macho and tough.

They are all very strong in a gang when shouting and bawling, but have you ever seen one on his own, strutting on as proud as a peacock?

The answer is no.

These individuals do not deserve the name of 'man', because individually they are cowards.

This is why they need laws to subjegate women, because they cannot do it by there own masculinity.

If you took any one of that jeering crowd in his own, he would not say 'boo' to a goose.

Anti muslims galore, the Ahh but bregade working themselves into a frinzy, wonderful :hihi:

Reading through these posts, I see exactly what you mean about gang mentality and clearly "they" havn't got a monopoly over it, you're quite a peacock yourself amongst these lot :hihi:

Do you honestly expect no reaction to a gang of yobs shouting that kind of tripe?

The answer to that kind of demo, in a proper society would be from a browning machine gun on the back of a land rover.

That would be the answer to them in the Utopia they long for, you must agree.

what a brave lady jabbers!

and at long last! an intelligent muslim (albeit ex-muslim) voice!

(sol does a little dance of glee)

lets hope that there are more educated people like her who hold similar views...

and who voice them...

To be honest I've not been able to watch youtube because of the firwall playing up and no matter how I change the settings it just won't do itm (I'll fix it in morning). My point was the one sided nature of the debate about a lady who has chosen to make a career out of being anti muslim. If Ahmed denijad says something against the USA then what's the surprise? What is the revelation and joy about this individual being an ex-muslim badmouthing Islam, what do you expect? Please let's not take this woman as representing end of Islam as much as Ahmed denajad is regarded as an end the West, they are both idiots with even bigger idiots idolising them

What exactly is it that Wafa Sultan has said that you think makes her an idiot? Why can't you accept that she has the right to her opinion? Why do you think no-one should have the right to critisise or question tyranical dogma?

Why do you think I am an idiot for expecting to be a free, autonomous human being beyond the reach of religious control freaks? What, exactly, is wrong with that?

I won't dream of personally calling you an Idiot, but that aside and to answer your question of Why, for simmilar reasons people like Ahmed denajad is regarded as a religious idiot and a danger to the world whilst being lead into disasterous war by religious nuts like Bush.

Indeed she has every right to her opinion, so why was the same right denied to Saddam? People like her are not changing anything but preaching to the converted and the cheer leaders for her are obviously like the group on here anti-muslim anyway. She isn't changing the muslim world but pandering up to a biassed audience. If you seriously believe that she has suddenly discovered a new quranic revellation and all muslims will suddenly say "Ah we've been wrong wrong all this time" then you're sadly mistaken, but if it makes you feel good, then go for it.

Certain Western Nation states, including ours, have spent the last 40 plus years behaving as nothing more than snivelling little apologists for everything we stand for such as democracy, equality and humanity as opposed to the majority of Eastern States who don't. As a result, we have allowed some who don't share our values to dictate what our values should be and regardless as to many warnings, we now find ourselves in the situation we are in. We have been sleepwalking into this for many a year but a succession of politicians from all parties have done absolutely zero about it. Multi race and multi faith can be accommodated but multi culture is a recipe for disaster. 'East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet' Rudyard had a point and a rather salient one at that.

Excellent post Cloudy :)

That's the thing, isn't it? We're always being sold the idea that Islamic countries are civilized and good and women are respected as equals, or at least that everyone born into an Islamic community is really happy with their lot. But the truth is it is often impossible for anyone to be able to express themselves freely without being punished or demonised - unless of course, they are freely supporting the status quo. Their voices are silenced, we hardly hear them.

And it's the very people who you would expect to be supporting and campaigning for that freedom who are actively suppressing any dissent. People who are outspoken about female equality, gay rights, who slag off the Catholic Church or political parties, who fought against apartheid, and so forth, are pro-oppression in the case of Islam. There are severalof these specimens on SF, who are blind to their disgraceful hypocrisy and no matter how often you confront them they Just. Don't Get. It.

Worth noting also that Ayaan Hirsi Ali spoke out in Holland and was still in genuine danger of being killed (as her colleague Theo Van Gogh actually was, of course). Now she's been hounded out and is living and speaking out in the USA too.

Good points there purdy. A telling example of this syndrome has been the response to Ayaan Hirsi Ali by the so-called liberal left and by the proponents of multiculturalism (although by no means only them, unfortunately). Consider the following article about the comments made about Ali by Ian Buruma and Timothy Garton Ash (or should we call him 'Guardian Ash?). These high priests of multiculturalism both use the 'moral equivalance' arguments to brand Ali an extremist and to tar her with the same brush as those she criticises. Ash in particular is a smarmy, preening little creep who attributes Ali's fame to her looks - not a word about her courage in speaking out, something completely alien to this egregious and cosseted nincompoop. I suspect Ali's real crime in the eyes of Buruma and Ash is to challenge the prevailing conventional wisdoms of multiculturalism, which she does with great passion and persuasiveness, from the perspective of someone who has been on the receiving end of some of its worst manifestations. Ironically (but perhaps not all that surprisingly) Ash is far more tolerant of muslim extremists of one kind or another.
