On Dell website you can get the free upgrade if you purchase before 1st of Feb.

 

My laptop decided to pack up today... do you think I should buy now, or wait untill Vista actually comes out?

 

Dunno if im loosing anything by getting it now or waiting.

I turn laptop on, and the screen is all weird, lines all over. Cant view a thing.

 

I want a new one anyway, it an old dell laptop.

I've got little to no interest in upgrading to Vista. We'll no doubt get at least one Vista PC at work so we can take a look but apart from that I can't see any personal benefit in upgrading.

For me, I wont get Vista just yet, I only just round to XP and I am gonna build another pc, I have enough spare parts in the flat to buidl another and install Linux on it.

 

Just normal MP3s that I *ahem* aquired from sources I can't mention otherwise I'll get exiled again, and ripped WMAs which have been ripped in a combination of Winamp and Windows Media Player from my own legally bought CDs.

Ripping music from your own CD collection is legal for personal use.

 

If you choose to acquire music from illegal sources, then that's entirely up to you, and you can't blame anyone else if you can't play them. AFAIK, Vista isn't going to prevent downloaded MP3s from being played, no matter what the source, but perhaps it's a good thing if it does prevent illegal downloads.

Id really love if they could stabilise ubuntu for it to be more home ready.
