Star24*
Hi, I walk my dog every sunday on a very long walk, she gets on fine with other dogs so was wondering if there is anywhere s6 or close that has rescue dogs that i could take for a walk aswel to get them out? Ive had a quick look on google and on here but can't find anything.Unfortuantley we can't have another dog but would really want to help with walkies etc! Thanks very much
pet-walkiz
its a pity you dont live closer to "Rain Rescue" in rotherham as they are looking for generous people as yourself for walking these poor rescue doggies, saved by rainrescue from being put to sleep, whilst they await loving homes. Strix
Where's S6 in words? I'm currently toying with the idea of rescue walking (closes inbox to prevent bombardment from interested parties on arm twisting mission ) and if I do, I'd be happy to give others a lift with me if we can find a mutual day/time You may not be able to have another dog full time Star, but would you be able to help out fostering perhaps? Taking a dog on short term whilst another home is sought, or perhaps having one during a holiday?
Star24*
Stannington area, I would be interested in fostering and also looking after whilst someone is away. Infact I have just put another post on to find a good cheap fencing company to secure the gardern, so when that is done it would be ideal.
KATIEB_23
I would be interested in fostering and also looking after whilst someone is away. Ooh well I can think of one person who would be very grateful of that.... http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=177735
Strix
do be careful if you're thinking of boarding a staffie with your own dog though even the ones that are good with other dogs can throw their weight about in play, and having a dog myself who has received a spinal injury that nearly sent him to an early grave, I'd recommend careful supervision if you do decide it's a good idea
Star24*
Yes I am a bit wary as we have two but they stay at my moms and we have them a few nights a week to give her a break, one is 12 so quite old and the other is a whippet so keeps herself to herlsef but doesn't really play, i think she thinks she the queen the way she acts! Hope you find some dogs to walk. Like you i often go for long(ish) walks on Sunday afternoons but don't have a dog. I'm not saying I want one (as it is not practical for me at the moment) but I can see how having a dog(s) to walk is a really good incentive to get out and take more exercise. Jess22
Have you tried Millhouse Animal Sanctuary? It's in Mayfield Valley, I can't think of anywhere closer though
Lemonpie
'Resurrecting' this thread.. My partner and I are moving to a semi-rural area and enjoy our walking. We used to sometimes take a dog he had 'part time' with other family members, but now the dog is going to be living at the other end of the country.. I would love to have a dog/s to take out for an occasional day out at the weekend, I am sure there are shelters with dogs who would love that. I'm hoping we will get a rescue dog of our own at some point..but until then it would be nice to at least give them a good day out in the countryside or occasional evening walk. I've had dogs for years so am experienced with them, and so is he as he has had a dog in the family. Can we just call up some local shelters and ask if we can'foster' any of them for a day? or is it not quite as simple as that? Is there anyone on here who would be happy with perhaps letting us take their dog out occasionally? Obviously free:) Thank you.
