Degree and job help

Recommended Posts

As neeeeeeeeeek said it depends what you want to do with it. What I'd be worried about was the potential lack of practical experience you might have as a result of doing an Open Uni degree - do they give you placements or such like? If not then all you have is theoretical knowledge which makes it much harder to get a job. As you said it might make it easier to get onto another degree, such as midwifery, but I'd check with the University beforehand to see what they want from applicants - that way you can maximise your appeal and chances of getting accepted to what is quite a fiercely competitive course.

Best wishes with whatever you decide to do.

Degree = Waste of time and money!! Dont open up anything useful! Well not if you did a useless course like Geography anyway!!
For goodness' sake, think about what you're saying.

Some degrees aren't worth the paper they're written on, because admittedly the recent government education policies have diluted the status and worth of a degree by introducing too many dumb subjects.

However, a good degree means prospects. Take a degree in a vocational or useful technical subject and it's the foundations of a career.

"Degree = Waste of time and money" must be a sentiment of resentment, from somebody who may be uneducated, or have a useless degree, a low-grade pass which employers aren't interested in, or just doesn't impress employers as a person.

A capable, promising individual with a degree will always do well.
