Trouncer
Can anyone tell me what they think of the development at Nether Edge (what was the old Nether Edge Hospital) ? or anyone who lives there comment on what it's like ? Are the houses worth the price ? Nice area ? Hold there prices or good investment ? Anyone living or used to live there or considered it in the past but changed there minds ? Maybe considering it myself but just wated to know the general consensus.
Deepak_S7
I like it I dont live there but not far away It looks to be very well done and in my opinion is an asset to the area Watch out for the me-too bandwagon flats built by others nearby There is a block very close that looks similar but seems to be very very shabbily built on closer inspection Deepak
barclay
My friend rents a large one bed flat there with very big terrace £500 per month plus use of onsite gym and pool. Secure gated entry systems and CCTV and the grounds are kept lovely. Really close to town or you can catch the No 22 which terminates bang outside
tabc
Can anyone tell me what they think of the development at Nether Edge (what was the old Nether Edge Hospital) ? or anyone who lives there comment on what it's like ? Are the houses worth the price ? Nice area ? Hold there prices or good investment ? Anyone living or used to live there or considered it in the past but changed there minds ? Maybe considering it myself but just wated to know the general consensus. We've just recently moved from there - we were renting but moved as we bought a house. It's a nice development - the gym and pool are good but I personally didn't find it as motiviating or enjoyable as attending a subscription gym. Renting is a little different to buying - but I felt that the novelty of living in the development soon wore off!
Trouncer
Thanks for the replies from everyone. By the way, where's the 'mee-too' bandwagon flats nearby ? what road are they on ? Do you think this is the best 'new development' in Sheffield or do you think any of the existing ones inner city or abouts are better ? I must say, I like the traditional look and stone walls. Lots of character ? If anyone else has any views on this or other developments please comment.
gd_1
I don't quite understand why you would need a gated Community in that part of Sheffield. Not quite the Bronx is it. Are they affraid that they will get mugged by the alternatives of Netheredge?
Sheff_Jeff
I'm moving in shortly and was very interested in this thread. Whats it like community wise? Does everyone keep themselves to themselves or do facilities like the communal gym mean there is a communal atmosphere? Apparently there is broadband and Sky piped into the apartments already. Did anybody make use of these and were they good VFM? Also how the hell do visiting family and friends get to you apartment without a fob etc? Have to say I'm very excited to be moving there, any other advice for someone new to the area?
Waltheof
Ironically, it was originally the old workhouse before it was converted into the hospital...so now the place where paupers were relegated to is now a posh residence for the people who don't want to mingle much with the other residents of Nether Edge (that may not be altogether true, but it's the impression having a gated site gives and it has caused some local resentment). It has been sympathetically done, I admit, though the amount of new "old-style" building now obscures the original core of the site, the listed building itself. OnTheEdge
If anyones interested, i can show people around the development and explain whatever you need to know. It seems to be pretty popular, houses/apartments don't hang around for long. Mike
