Is customer service dead or am I just unlucky?

Recommended Posts

I took my year old Citroen in for its first service on Thursday, and mentioned that the temp gauge had shot up to the top the day before (I'd only done 3 miles), and asked if they could look at it. Also asked if they would replace the smashed wing mirror.

The service cost £207 (£34 for oil alone!!) and they said there was nothing wrong with the temp. The wing mirror was going to cost £185 but they had ordered the wrong one so I was asked to bring it back on Tuesday (tomorrow).

Well, on Saturday I had to call the AA because the car was telling me it was overheating. I was told that it was a common fault with my car, and that it was a burnt out sensor. In the meantime it would be safe to drive until I took it in.

Sunday - I didn't drive the car.

Today, I was supposed to be taking my son to the hospital but the car wouldn't start. When I rang the company, and told them what the AA man had said, the reply I got was "well, the AA would tell you anything". I asked if they could collect the car but was told no. When I asked what they would be prepared to do, I was asked to hold the line. The receptionist came back on the line and started telling me the number for Citroen Assist despite being told the car was over a year old and not covered by them. I asked why I'd been fobbed off back to her and she put the phone down!!!

I later rang to cancel tomorrow's appointment for the wing mirror because Auto World near the Wicker are doing it for £70 cheaper. The man I spoke to was really helpful and suggested why my car wouldn't start, and what I could try to rectify the problem long enough to get the car into them.

I can safely say I will never go through the doors of REG VARDY ever again.

They're all as bad. I get my Saab done at the dealers just off Eccy road and some of their past work can only be described as "shoddy" and the staff always look totally miserable.

I've had to threaten to sue them before getting the job done satisfactorily in the past. I only continue to go there because they now know full well that I will *ensure* they do a good job (and they're just up the road from my house) . I would go elsewhere but in my experience they're all as bad.

It's terrible how people don't respect each other any more. When they can't be bothered you're a nuisanse. You're not a person who just needs help.

You can get the attention you want only when you give them money, but if you need something from them they're nowhere to be seen. Notice how the sales line is always available but the customer care or service line is either someone who can't be bothered or a poor soul who hasn't been told how to do his job right, doesn't get the appropriate support from his coworkers and so he can avoid the situation puts the phone down on you. Pressure from everywhere and because you're just a nuisance on the other end of the line and it's easy, click...

Absolutely spot on Maritsa. I'm not sure why this is happening though. Is it lack of training, or just that people don't take pride in their work any more? If I were to treat people like this in the job I do, I would be unemployed.

In the case of Reg Vardy, they won't get another penny off me. I have bought two new cars from them now, but my custom will go elsewhere in future. I just wish everyone who is treated in a shoddy manner by a company would vote with their feet and not use them again.

what citroen is your car? as citroen offer 3 years warrentee and 12 year anti corrosion on all new cars!

It's a Picasso. I was unable to claim for the wing mirror because some idiot smashed it off so it wasn't covered by the warranty. The temperature sensor was covered though and Autoworld were able to do it under the warranty even though I hadn't bought the car from them.

but you said autoworld did it for £70 cheaper:huh:

if it is under warrentee you get free breakdown menbership:huh:

citreon assist will come and try and repair the car , if they cant fixed it they will tow it to a dealer why dont you complain to citreon uk and let then sort it out! As the warrentee is with citreon uk and not your dealer

the £70 was for the wng mirror not the other work!

i aksed for a quote from my local seat dealer for a sevice and they asked how many miles had done, they said its £270 for that amount of mileage! i nearly died, my local garage done exact same job for £90. The dealers try to scare you into thinking if you go elsewhere then your warranty is void which is simply not true. Find a good local reliable garage and stick with them:thumbsup:
