Draggletail
(Title of thread blatantly ripped off from the channel four 'films to see before you die season') And having just watched it again for the first time in years, my nomination is the funny, powerful thought provoking and very moving 'One flew over the cuckoos nest' from 1975 featuring Jack Nicholson. From wikipedia'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a 1975 film directed by Miloš Forman. The film is an adaptation of the novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey. The movie was the first to win all five major Academy Awards (Best Picture, Actor in Lead Role, Actress in Lead Role, Director, Screenplay) since It Happened One Night in 1934, an accomplishment not repeated until 1991, by The Silence of the Lambs' What's yours? Phanerothyme
The Seventh Seal - much parodied, but a beautiful and moving film with a stunning performance from Max von Sydow that made him, and Ingemar Bergman, famous.
Zaytsev
Can't argue against anything with Jack in it. Take a look at this scene from Five Easy Pieces Genius, just genius.
NEKRO138
I'd go for the James Whale version of Frankenstein. I just love the look of it. I think the special effects are very good with the limited resources he had at his disposal. I also think the story of Frankenstein is one that many people can relate to in a way. As with most horror and sci-fi films, there's a message behind it.

hoba
Everytime there is a thread like this, or Your Favourite Films Ever thread, I always submit the same film, Hana Bi by Takeshi Kitano. In my opinion, it's the greatest film ever made. A simple story about one man taking his dying wife on a final trip around Japan, I think this film is perfect and everyone should see it.
