fred_notdead
hitchhiker, hiya m8! Boot into the Windows CD. When the welcome screen appears, press the letter R for the recovery console. At the DOS prompt type "chkdsk /p" (without the quotes) and hit enter key. when done type "fixboot" and again press enter. enter "Y" at the prompt. then type "Exit" and reboot into Windows XP. If that should fail, run through the same procedure but this time type "chkdsk /r" then enter. This will take longer to run though. Now boot into Windows XP as normal when done. . richard
Thats an interesting idea. Can I install linux on the same partition as an XP install? AS steev said I was referring to a live cd, which means nothing on your hard drive is altered. Using knoppix doesn't require a hard drive. However, to answer the question - no, Linux cannot be installed on the same partition as XP. Most linux distributions come with partition resizing software. esme
gagp30kx.sys is the M$ Generic AGP driver for VIA K8 Motherboards if a repair of the installation doesn't fix anything them all the M$ drivers are OK have you updated the video drivers recently ? if not I'd still suspect the registry or possibly the video hardware when you get to the loading of gagp30kx.sys does the screen then go black and the system reboots ? if so look at the top left of the screen is there any message flashing up as the screen goes black, don't try reading it just let me know if anything comes up
