Advice on fitting a free standing gas cooker

Recommended Posts

Please help. I had a new kitchen fitted last year and not long after my gas range cooker packed in and cannot be repaired. I need to replace it, but I've been told that I now have to have a gap either side of the cooker to meet new regs. Is this true? Is it true that if a buy a cooker of the same length that a CORGI registered gas fitter won't be able to fit this and that I'll have to buy a smaller cooker?

Thanks

it mostly depends on the manufacturers instructions, ultimately the manufacturers will not go against brittish standards and current regulations. in most manufacturers literature there is a guide to requrirements. you can also contact the manufacturers/suppliers and ask them of the requirements by telephone/email or in person if convenient. if you want to draw a scetch with dimentions of the space, cupboards above and distances between (appliances and cupboards) obviously it is difficult to asses without close inspection and the details of the intended appliance. if you want to give me the details i can look in to it for you as much as possible. also give me the retailer where you have seen the appliance.

as an aside, as posted above do check out any intallers id with the corgi website/telephone helpdesk. you can get thier number from thier site an, if you have a free minutes package with your mobile/phone provider use 'say no to 0870' (google it) this site gives you geaographical numbers for 0870/0845

hth, feel free to give me a call if you need any more advise
