Charity knitting help

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

I've just realised that I've missed the submission date for sending off my contributions to the Caps to the Capital appeal (bum) so I have six little multicoloured hats looking for a good cause to go to.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where to send them to? I guess they'd be premature sized for Western babies, but all the preemie charity sites I've looked at only want stuff knitted in pastel colours :/ I'm happy to post them in the UK or abroad if necessary.

I would have thought that a charity would be happy for any contributions they could get (within reason) rather than being fussy over colours :loopy:

We have sent all the caps to the capital you so wonderfully made and if you wish to continue we will ensure the caps get to the children in Africa as promised (regardless of the deadline) :)

Many thanks to all who contributed - we got cute little baby caps in by the bag load, (and I oo'd and ahhh'd over everyone) you are a very talented bunch.

Thank you!

How bizarre is that? Aren't bright colours better anyway, because babies can't see the pale colours til their visual system develops a bit more? The bright colours give them more stimulation. Or something. The hats will spend more time on the babies' heads than in their hands hopefully, but still...

Just to add my two-penneth here - my friend had a baby in Middlesborough last year at 26 weeks and her daughter (now a fabulously chunky 10 month old!) spent a lot of months on the prem ababy unit there. They have a really hard time finding hats small enough - and they are really important to help keep the babies warm.

If anyone ever has a bit of spare wool and time I am SURE that any prem baby unts would be very very grateful for them :) Once I think I know how - I am going to try doing a few for them.
