Rainrescue
Dodger - (the old codger) is now looking for a permanent new home. Story and pictures here More Latest update Some of you may remember the story of Dodger. He is a 9 yr old staffy who was dumped in the pound early December. Spent his statutory 7 days and then we went to get him. Dodger was brought back to my home, and put into kennels. Thats where the problem started. Dodger doesn't like kennels. Anyway - off he went for a little (er hum) gentlemanly operation and a good vet check over. With a clean bill of health and a neat little tummy type tuck - back he came. One of my friends who walks for me couldn't bear to see this old gent in a kennel - especially as he was doing a beautiful staffy scream most of the time. So she took him off home to share life with her 2 dogs and a cat. The telling time - how would Dodge cope? Well check out his pick on the rain rescue web site - as you see him smiling driving off in the car - waving me bye bye. He slept all night on the settee and never once tried to eat the xmas pressies - night 2 - he decided he would like to sleep on the bed - so he had to be restrained downstairs again. Fosterer loves the old man to bits - but he is a bit of an attention seeking type of guy and would dearly love to have people to cuddle just him and not have to share it with other doggies or puss cats. Don't get me wrong - he gets on great with both of them - see more pics (yawn). So whats on offer is a 9 yr old very affectionate staffy - who gets on great with people, dogs an cats. I am told he can be a bit randy with the odd spare leg - and usually takes a shine to the man of the house - but a quick grumble at him and he bows his head in shame and remembers his manners. So he is a good dog - but he is still a staff at heart. If anyone knows of a nice home with a settee or armchair thats waiting - who would like to adopt Dodger and love him and care for him for the rest of his days - please email me directly or pm me. He is m/chipped, vacc'd and flead and wormed.

gempud
Just to say I have seen Dodger and he is certainly a gorgeous gentleman and does not belong in kennels. Anyone who owns him would be proud to have him - unfortunately I can't as I wouldn't be suitable for him.

Rainrescue
Hi Gnomi - i don't think the 2 old guys would be suitable - both of them are centre of attention and deserve it - they both want the best seat in the house and if there are any spare cuddles going - both will want them all. I think Dodge would suit a single dog home or an older laid back type of dog that wasn't bothered. Whereas your guy - we have got to be real careful what he wants to take in. He has centre stage and we don't want him not to keep it - any dog that you take in- he has to feel he is looking after it - thats what made me think about Hunny. Carpetviper - my rehoming conditions are always very specific to the dog - so we change according to what each individual dog requires. Thankfully as we are so small we can do that. So with regards to Dodge - the sort of home he is looking for - is totally different to one that say one of the younger ones is looking for. do you think i have covered all that he needs on the thread? Regarding fees - there are none to pay for Dodger - i would rather they used the money to pay for any future care he may need - or better still got him insured. spottie2101
Hi Everyone, I am the foster mum of the old man in quiestion and i just wanted to say what a star he is If you are looking for a loving and affectionate dog he is perfect for you, if you want a placid laid back kinda guy again he is perfect for you. He fits in perfectly with our already manic family of a 10 year old Jack Russell Bitch, a 2 1/2 year old male Staffie, a little puddy cat and two rabbits. dodge gets along with them all. The first week with my other staff was a bit of a nightmare as he was wanting to be top dog, but the old man just looked at him as if to say ok by me and slowly he came round. Dodge is a typical staffie and anyone who knows staffs knows they can be a little stubbon but with a firm voice he does as he is told. The only real time we see this stubborness is usually at night when its time for bed and he does not feel like going into his crate. He is a real pleasure to have around but unfortunately due to hetic lifestyles etc we are not in a position to take on a third dog. In saying that we are quite happy to foster him until his new mummy and /or daddy come along. He would be a brilliant addition to any household. If anyone is interested please feel free to contact me i am more than happy to give you any more details. With love, licks and Waggie tails Dodger and his Foster Mummy:love:
