Is there any mileage in turning up to an airport and hoping for spare discount seats?

Recommended Posts

I have nothing to do this weekend, and thought I might as well do that nothing in a pleasant European setting. Booking a flight to European cities this weekend, however, appears to be around 100 pounds more expensive than if I were to book it for next weekend.

If I turned up to Manchester airport with no fixed destination and asked what flights needed more people, would this be cheaper or more expensive than booking it in advance? Or would they just tell me to get lost?

Definately worth doing, my mum used to do this all the time, allbeit from East Midlands, she used to get some really good bargains

:) Thanks guys! I'm still teetering but might well do this. Can't go for more than a weekend unfortunately, or I'd be off to Mt Kilimanjaro or somewhere exciting. Considering I'll be going alone, will have to work out accomodation when I get there and have no language skills whatsoever, it's probably safer to go to Europe and hope someone speaks English!

No that is the cheapest way to travel, a friend of mine went to Caribean for 2 weeks £200.00 return!!

by far the ceapest way to travel, but you need to have balls of steel if you want to wait and see who's got what.. sometimes it can be an hour or a 3 days!! but yes very good bargains
