JayneRay
I am not advertising just singing praises. I have been in a woolly heaven today The Wool Baa at Hunters Bar. If you have not been yet go all sorts of nice unusual wool very friendly helpful and a wonderful atmosphere .I would still be there now only I went with my mum who does not do wool (along with shopping, domestic dark or hills). Guest
I've heard loads of good things about the Wool Baa too. Sheffield is lucky to have such a place, especially as Jill stocks the yarns that you generally have to turn to the internet to get hold of. Fondling the yarn before purchase should be mandatory . My own little bit of yarn heaven is Blackberry Yarns in Mountsorrel. It's a little shop in a village a few miles north of me, and like Jill, the owner offers a wide selection of yarns and runs classes too.
Bami
The Wool Baa is for me a Wool Heaven as well. It's so nice when you can walk around, enjoy what you see, feel the wool and take your time instead of standing behind a counter and asking for it (nothing wrong with that, but I need my time to decide in heavens such as this). It's pleasant as well that you can look in the magazines before buying - I didn't know there were so many knitting magazines. There is another wool heaven for me but that one is abroad, in The Netherlands. The space of that shop is giant, with wool all around and in a special room there were boxes with bargains, corners for classes including with knitting machines. It's a pity that the little wool shop in Stocksbridge has closed down. It was nice there too to pop in and look around. Hecate, I've never heard of Mountsorrel before, but when I'm around I will definitely pay this shop a visit.

Mountsorrel is a village just north of Leicester, just off the A6 on the way up to Loughborough. Blackberry Yarns is a little shop, but it's worth a visit if you're ever in the area. I'm going to try to pay a visit to Get Knitted's new retail shop when it opens in a few weeks. It's in Bristol, so a fair distance away, but it's an intriguing prospect. Shine
I nipped in the Wool Baa this weekend too with my mum and grandma and all three generations of fibre crafters were very impressed (My grandma was very taken with the Noro!). Will definately be returning!

JillM
I agree, the wool baa is fab - is that Jill's head I can see from all the way over here in Rotherham???!!! It should be! Thankyou all for saying such nice things. I am touched (although that has been said many times ) Not advertising (Hecate ) but keep an eye on the web site as there will be several additions to the stock list soon............(I can't help it - I just don't seem to have any control....). BTW - I am off the the US at the beginning of April and will be checking out the latest Stateside goodies. If anyone desperately wants anything and it doesn't weigh a ton, let me know and I will bring it back for you. I will be in NY so can get most things from the places I visit each time I am there! JillM
As founder of the knitting group, I officially claim all the free space in Jill's luggage . . I usually take one empty case and 2 huge expandable bags for those chance purchases..... My husband manages really well with a just a couple of changes of clothes during the fortnight..... spends quite a bit of time in the laundry room with USA Today
