Pook
How can the council justify only allowing one parking pass per house on the parking schemes between Shoreham St and Bramall Lane? I live in a house with two other professionals, and two of us require a car to get to and from work. The council, however will not allow more than one permit per house, which means one car must be parked a good walk from our house, thus creating a security risk. It once again seems like a broad brush approach to the problem. And will the parking scheme be enforced on match days???

Can you fit 2 cars infront without encroaching on someone elses space? Judging by the area you mention, I suspect not, and thus you have your answer. 9 times out of 10 I can't park in my own street, because households with two cars inevitably have to use the space outside someone elses house to park (unless their house is very wide), so the "security risk" you mention is simply part of city life and hundreds if not thousands of people have to cope with this everyday. One permit per houshold seems perfectly fair to me. I can even forsee the time when you won't be able to buy a car without documentation to prove you have somewhere to park it if you live in a city. You live next to a busy bus route and five minutes walk from the train station! Why on earth do you need a car to get to work?

Maybe they are expected to go out and visit customers nationally. Maybe they carry heavy loads. Have you ever tried this by bus and train?
Heyesey
two of us require a car to get to and from work. Not true. Two of you WANT a car to get to and from work. If you want it badly enough, put up with the inconvenience; if you don't, scrap the car.

Taking the bus is more expensive than running a car. Walking is ok if the weather is good, and you don't mind breathing in a huge amount of traffic polution. neeeeeeeeeek
I used to live on Margaret street and had simlar problems. GF was a nurse in Rotherham and I worked odd shifts in handsworth. we both needed cars and could prove we lived there but still only one permit was allowed. The bloody council should not have given permission to build those student flats with almost no parking spaces. They have made it all much worse. Because i'm a reporter. I don't work in an office based in the centre of a town and commute, work, then commute home. I work odd hours, covering a national patch (all of UK. inc Northern Ireland).
