We're getting a new kitchen - any recommendations or horror stories?

Recommended Posts

I know this has been done before but despite an exhaustive search I can't find any threads.

So, to any who have had a new kitchen in the last couple of years, where did you buy from, who fitted it, what should we watch out for, any handy hints to pass on etc etc? We are in Chapeltown if that makes any difference.

Thanks.

Mum got her kitchen units and worktop from B&Q and I fitted it with a little help with the heavier objects like wall mounted units etc. It's not that hard really, it just looks it. You could probably save alot of cash doing it yourself. ;)

I would suggest that you buy the kitchen flat packed from a reputable company (say MFI, b&q, Ikea etc) then seperatly employ someone to fit it.

We did our kitchen last year through MFI, it looks great but it ended up costing us about £800 more than if we'd paid our own fitter directly.

I have the tel number of the guys who fitted the kitchen (company name Lee & lee) thats their names (lol) they get subcontracted by MFI to fit kitchens, bedrooms etc. so if you buy the kitchen from MFI it'll save you loads to just employ them yourselves.

Sounds like good advice to me. :)
