craigmason
I received this email today Dear AOL Customer, as you may be aware, there have recently been some changes at AOL. As a consequence, AOL has recently sold its UK Access business, which includes the AOL dial-up, AOL Broadband and AOL Talk products. Firstly, there's no need to be concerned. We've ensured that through the transition any impact will be minimal and you'll continue to be able to use all the industry leading AOL services that you've been used to, but we do need to make you aware of a few changes that we are making as a consequence of this development. 1) Your Member Agreement will be updated 2) Our Privacy Policy is being updated 3) The suppliers of AOL's services will be changing Will the service I get be affected? No - These changes will not affect the price you pay for your AOL subscription or the quality of your service . you will still receive support by AOL Member Services and you can contact them using all the same contact details as before. You will continue to receive the same high standards and quality delivery as you've known in the past. The AOL brand, products and services that you use, including your email address, will remain unchanged and uninterrupted. AOL has also implemented new, positive steps to proactively manage its network. This is to ensure the vast majority of our members get the best possible experience. Please visit AOL Keyword: COS (Conditions of Service) for further information about what steps we are taking. Do I need to do anything? No, there is no action you need to take, however we do recommend that you read on as the terms under which your AOL services are provided will change. 1) Your Member Agreement will be updated AOL's access products and web services are currently covered by a single Member Agreement. However, they will be provided under two separate agreements from 1st February 2007: · The "AOL Web Services Agreement" will apply to AOL's free web services which will be available to all web users, and AOL's premium services. This can also be previewed at AOL Keyword: COS. AOL's free services includes AOL websites such as http://www.aol.co.uk, as well as AOL software and services such as message boards, email, AOL Instant Messaging, Parental Controls, AOL Pictures, AOL Security Suite, and content including music, news and sport and other online web services offered by AOL. The premium services include: o AOL's "Text Messaging" service (previously IM2Mobile), through which you can send text messages from your PC to any UK mobile phone; o the McAfee Virus Scan service; and o Alerts and Reminders Use of these premium services is subject to additional terms and conditions which we have also reviewed. The latest versions can be found at AOL Keyword: Text Messaging, AOL Keyword: McAfee and AOL Keyword: Alerts. · The "AOL Access Member Agreement" will apply to AOL's access subscription services. You can review this at AOL Keyword: COS. We suggest that you take a look as it contains detailed information on the access services that AOL provides to you. Along with the AOL Access Member Agreement, any AOL Broadband or AOL Talk service usage is also subject to the AOL Broadband and/or AOL Talk agreements, depending on which of these services you use (if any). These Agreements have also been reviewed and you can view the updated versions at AOL Keyword: Broadband and AOL Keyword: Talk. 2) Our Privacy Policy is being updated From time to time we refresh our privacy policy to tell you how we use and look after your personal information, and you can find the latest update at AOL Keyword: Privacy Policy. 3) The suppliers of AOL's services will be changing Currently, your AOL Services are provided by AOL Europe Services Sarl. With effect from February 1st 2007: · AOL's Web and premium services will be provided by AOL (UK) Limited within the AOL existing group of companies; and · Your Internet Access subscription services will be provided by AOL Services Sarl, a subsidiary of The Carphone Warehouse group of companies What happens next? You do not have to do anything as a result of these changes. Your current agreements will remain unaffected until the above changes take effect from 1st February 2007. Your continued subscription to AOL and use of AOL's services will effectively show your acceptance of them. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for using AOL and we hope that you continue to enjoy your AOL services. Yours, Jackie O'Leary Vice President, AOL Member Services
