rooby_roo
So - the Bible. Is it a collection of true (ish) accounts from many contributors or if like me is it just a cracking good adventure novel?
koenigsinger
its a selection of stories and musings written by men who wished to control the hearts and minds of others by the us of 'teachings'. AND it's a passable blockbuster novel with more sex and violence than jackie collins and john grisham could come up with if they worked together for half a century! Heyesey
Considering in how many places it flatly contradicts itself, it can't exactly be a true story can it?
plekhanov
So - the Bible. Is it a collection of true (ish) accounts from many contributors or if like me is it just a cracking good adventure novel? The Bible repeatedly contradicts itself, history and science so it's difficult to see how it's 'true'. As for it being a 'cracking good adventure novel'? Only someone who's never read even a decent sized chunk of the bible could say that. It's on the whole poorly written, rambling, incoherent, repetitive and generally rather dull and above all else the main protagonist is quite possibly the single most unpleasant character ever written. Beakerzoid
It's a collection of morality tales which were used to guide people. and sustain a set of laws, by instilling a fear of a higher being on them. The Old Testament is fantastic inspiration for tales of violence, retribution and hope. The New Testament is a bit slow paced until Revalations (where it is a bewildering confusion - a bit like a David lynch film) The New Testament also bears some uncanny similarities to the doctrines of Mithras, a religious figure which was worshipped before Christianity. donkey
So - the Bible. Is it a collection of true (ish) accounts from many contributors or if like me is it just a cracking good adventure novel? You mean you don't believe the Earth was created 4000 years ago before being destroyed again in a flood but all the species were saved in a big boat? donuticus
They've just found a new page to the bible it reads as follows. To my darling wife The story contained within these pages is entirely fictitious. Any similarity between persons living or dead is purely coincidental.
