What the hell difference does that make? Since when would criminals be that picky? And no, she didn't actually. If I see someone without their headlights on or excessive fog lights, I'd flash once and leave them to it. I wouldn't follow them for a mile or more!

I've just reported it on 101 so it's recorded, whether it was sinister or not. And I was worried enough to lock my door, even though my pet hate is locking myself in the car.

have to agree with the concensous of opinon, any incident like this needs to be reported asap,

due to her work my wife often drives alone at night,i'm not always available to collect her as i work shifts too.

i have tried to instill into her that when shes driving alone at night, she MUST have all the doors locked, she MUST keep her windows closed, and if she is ever subjected to this type of incident she is to keep moving at all costs even if it means running a red light and where-ever possible to get details of the car and its occupants & report it to the police immediately.

maybe it sounds a bit over protective but you can't be too careful these days, there's a lot of scum out there.

Though I am a bloke I had a similar thing happen to me in daylight. Some bloke(looked like a sales rep or manager) did the same almost took me out on a roundabout. He followed me for two miles shaking his fist and getting almost in my boot. I just let him follow me till I got to the local police station and stopped right in front of him. He reversed like hell and shot off. The description of him is pillock.

The police station is unattended.

It gives carjackers a new idea though :|

As for locking yourself in the car, not such a great idea if you were in an accident, injured and you were unable to get out, or people were unable to get in and help.

Lock them when you are stationary by all means, but I wouldn't do it whilst driving.

Not good advice, in my experience. While aware that I could have an accident, and have difficulty getting out, I have had two situations scary enough to remind me to lock the doors whilst driving...

On Penistone Road, in daylight and in front of other drivers, two men attempted to get into my car while I was stopped at traffic lights. Thankfully the doors were locked, I didn't wait for them to break the windows, but drove through the lights (carefully) and reported the incident.

More recently, during a road rage incident, two men blocked me in and got out of their car and came for mine, one to each door. Terrifyingly, I had my then 4 month old baby in the passenger seat and hadn't locked the door - in case of said scary accident possibility - I honestly thought I was going to have a heart attack I was so scared, desperately trying to reach the lock on my child's side before one of the guys did, and get my own door locked too. Next car will have central locking!!!

So, on consideration, I would have to say:

LOCK YOUR DOORS!

Not wishing to detract from the point, whether there was something or nothing in what happened, I stated my exact route - what did I miss? :loopy:

Anyway, as I said it's reported now. If it's important I'm sure the Police will look into it. If it isn't, then they won't.

What type of car do you drive? It could be that yours matched an order. Just a thought.
